Exactly 26 years ago on this date, Mt. St. Helens in Southern Washington State erupted in a HUGE explosion. Some of you may still see reports on the news about her spewing ash and rock from time to time now as she's re-building the dome she blew off those 26 years ago. To let you see some cool archives of the eruption, itself and to just see the site that is all about this very cool Volcano that we can see from the Portland Metropolitan area ( it's about 75 miles more or less away from us ) here is a very cool website I found for Mt. St. Helens. www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/Enjoy! I know I can't be the ONLY geology science geek in here now can I? Me, hubby and my daughter also took a trip on up there to the Johnston Ridge observatory and hiked all around there last summer. I have lots of pictures of that trip and also some of the pictures I took of Mt. St. Helens, you can see it belching up steam from her rebuilding her dome. It's pretty cool. If you want to see them, just PM me. I will give you a link to my Photobucket album to see them. They are HUGE but so cool! Plus, I got some very nice "scenic" from a distance pics of her, too that I am very proud of, if I do say so myself!

Jeez, I'd almost forgotten about it. I was living in Seattle when it happened, and we got almost an inch of ash. I can't believe how it must have been in Oregon. Since I decided to move to Oregon, I guess I'll find out when she blows again huh?

I wasn't up here yet. I moved from L.A. to Oregon in September of 1980, the summer after it all went down. ( Hey, PLEASE don't hold it against me that I am from there, okay? Some Pac NWers do, so it's rare that I bring it up ).
But I know plenty of people who were and they told me their stories. I'm so glad I was NOT here!

Guess what? I was born in California, Santa Barbara to be exact. We moved to Idaho when I was about 7, then ended up in Seattle. There's nothing wrong with being one of the people who ran screaming from the pollution and gangs.
Welcome to Heaven! (compared to that place)

I was raised, in of all places, in the same town of southern CA that the Beach Boys came from....yeah, Hawthorne, CA. My oldest half-sister went out with Dennis Wilson "briefly", Dennis was a HUGE flirt. But she knew all the Wilson's and the whole band.
Also, she went to school with Olivia Arias, who later became Mrs. George Harrison ( from the Beatles ) and is sadly, George's widow.
So I came from a place of "somewhat" famous people and have been around celebs and that whole thing down there. Not as a "famous person" myself, though I did model ( bathing suits and lingerie, a LONG time ago, when I had a bod like Salma Hayek's ).
But I had to get out when I was 20 or I don't think I'd be alive anymore. Too crazy and fast of a lifestyle and the people I hung out with were literally very dangerous and toxic people. I did it to save what was left of my life, literally.
