I ain't seeing Wall-e then. I almost saw it on the cruise. It was on friday at 12:01 AM but I just took Boline and I was tireddd. I never thought about that either, tab. Poor Aailyah. I remember that. She was so young and so is Heath. I feel for Michelle and his little girl. She doesn't have a daddy anymore. And she doesn't even know it.

I saw "Wall-E" this weekend, and I think the film critcs and I must have seen two different movies, because they absolutely loved it, and I didn't. I've seen a number of animated movies that were much more entertaining than this one. The character of the robot Wall-E reminded me of E.T. a little -- the voices are eerily similar -- but I was left thinking that I'd rather have been seeing E.T. yet again as opposed to this effort. I found it overly preachy, too, and the movie's treatment of overweight people was downright offensive. JMO. Susie...I'm going to add my ( contradictory) input/feedback here about WALL-E... JMHO We took our Special Needs Grandson to see this movie yesterday afternoon. He loved the movie and his joy and laughter did rub off on me! He caught all the nuances of the expressions on the robots' 'faces'... such as happy, sad, dismay... and so on. Grandson told me he liked seeing WALL-E withdraw into himself and become a "box"; I think Grandson relates to his own feelings of wanting to withdraw, some times. He did get the message of "too much trash"... LOL..! So, for him, a Special Education student, this was a movie he enjoyed and understood. ;D "Different strokes for different folks." (His older brother is majoring in Environmental Engineering.)

(His older brother is majoring in Environmental Engineering.) Lily, I'm glad that you're grandson enjoyed the movie! One aspect that I could relate to myself was Wall-E's sense of self-sufficiency. I liked the way that he made a home for himself and contentedly went about his business in such a daunting environment. I also thought the environmental theme in and of itself was fine -- I just didn't care for how they handled it. When I looked at the "Rotten Tomatoes" site, the movie got something like a 97% rating from the film critics, which is phenominal. So I'm kind of like Wall-E...off on my own little planet, at least in terms of public opinion. *********************************** "The Dark Knight" has a very somber/dark tone overall -- it's not just Heath's role. Do all of you remember that one Batman movie that was similarly dark? I can't recall the name of it offhand. But TDK reminds me of that particular sequel.

Grandson was fascinated with Wall-E's make-shift abode and I was fascinated, watching Grandson's delight, as he analyzed what Wall-E was doing! I have to admit that I dozed off a little bit after they were all onboard the Axiom! I need to add: Grandson will never be able to live 'on his own', so watching his reactions were bitter-sweet.

Finally saw "27 Dresses." I thought it was really cute. I'm soooo behind when it comes to movies. I did see "Sex and the City - the Movie" and loved it. My mom was taken aback though! She went with a girlfriend and not with me, luckily.

I'm waiting for Batman to open. Can't wait to see it. I'm not big on caped crusader movies, but I'm hearing Heath's role as the Joker is one not to be missed. It's going to be awfully sad watching him on the big screen. I think the publicity machine around this movie is going to be even more intense in the next few days.

If any of you have seen "Wanted", please post your opinion about the movie. I've gotten conflicting feedback (from relatives), but I want to see it b/c I'm a big fan of Morgan Freeman.

If you go to see it for Morgan Freeman, Lily, he won't disappoint. The movie is basically a poor man's "Matrix" (it's obvious that the director has a huge man-crush on the Wachowski brothers.) The plot is about as silly as they come, but the special effects are quite fun and some of the action sequences are superb (I'm thinking especially of the train sequence here, but there are others as well.) I really feel that I'm pretty easy to please in terms of summer "popcorn" type movies (thinking, for instance, that the Indiana Jones update was fun) and I love action/adventure movies in general, but this one just didn't do it for me. I need a little more plot, even from a movie based on a comic book (or in this case, a graphic novel.) The guys will drool over Angelina Jolie, who seems to be sprouting a few new tattoos, but I was left wondering why Brad can't somehow help her find a better script.

Susie - thanks for your take on this movie! Yes, I like action movies, also like movies with a lot of special effects. Funny, in that respect, you agreed with one of my grandsons (he loved the Matrix movies).
You also agreed with my daughter-in-law, regarding the plot being weak.
So I'll go see it for Morgan Freeman; Sam's a fan of his too! We like Angelina too. Thanks!!!
