Do I like to type? Hmmm....I never thought about that. I do like to talk, though. I also happen to like longs posts (both in myself and others). I like to really know what people are really thinking...something that is hard to tell when they only write a sentence or two (not that I don't enjoy that, too, but I especially enjoy longer posts). I guess my personality is the kind to really get into a few favorite threads rather than post one sentence posts all over the forum. But, as I said, I do enjoy reading everyone's posts, no matter how long or short. I take it you don't care for longer posts since you have commented on it twice, Krysten.

Krysten, my dear. When you get to be "older" like Rose and I and have a lot of "life experiences" on things, especially things like health, marriage, kids, etc. you talk more in lenghty conversations. It's hard to cover that stuff in just a word or two sentence. If you want to get to the "meat" of something, things have to be delved into.
Not putting you down for liking to keep it light and being silly and all, but when I see someone who needs my help or is reaching out, who am I to turn them away? I've gotten along in life with people willing to reach out and help me, I like to do the same. It's just who I am.

People have reached out and helped you and now you are doing the same for others. I think that is really wonderful and really shows your character.

So, you are on levothyroxine and it's doing you no good either, huh? Well, for one thing, "traditional" doctors don't always keep the most up-to-date on the T3 & T4 levels and what now days is the "acceptable" level for a hypo or hyper thyroid person to be on. They change it around so much, it's really rediculous. What the traditional docs need to do is to work with us patients who are not noticing the drugs working for us to keep upping or lowering the dose until it DOES work for us, but...usually when you DO suggest such things, or being asked to be on "Armour Thyroid" which is a natural thyroid med made from animal thyroid hormone, they either "roll their eyes at you" or mutter stuff under their breaths' ( I kid you not, I've had BOTH responses...nice, huh?-IDIOTS )! How condescending can one get? Most "traditional doctors" unless you DO find a good one who is a good listener and "truly cares" about you and is not hearding you into and out of their offices like cattle ( in part, sometimes due to the LOVELY HMO system...another tangent to get off on sometime ), don't even want to hear a thing you have to say about your own treatment, which I think is NUTS because it's YOUR body for Christ's sake. You KNOW if your body is in TUNE or NOT, not them! Too many have a "GOD COMPLEX" as big as Texas, I'm tellin' ya! Not all pharmacies have the capacity or knowledge on how to make these "specially made" thyroid hormones. My Naturopath works with this specialty pharmacy in my town called "Pacific Compounds" pharmacy. They not only do specialty human meds, they do pets, too. Yeah, my cat's HYPER thyroid meds are specially made there, too. LOL! And my Naturopath specializes in the "chemistry side" of her profession, in other words, she knows what to mix with what compounds to make them work. Not all "traditional" doctors know how to do this. They just rely on the BIG pharmacies and they push their "wares" for them, for good or bad. My stuff is called Liothyroxine/Thyroxine. Believe me, I've gotten VERY educated about thyroid conditions, not only for myself but for my pet, too. My cat is 14 years old, I need to take care of him so I can keep him several more years. Not ready to let my babe go just yet! I'd suggest that if your doctor does NOT work with you to go to an Endocrinologist, my friend. I am able to go to a Naturopath due to my hubby getting an insurance change to an HSA ( Health Savings Account ). I can see whatever doctor I please, traditional or not. So can ANY member of my family. I was going to do the endocrinologist route until we got this insurance. It may just work for you babe. Give it a try! Good luck! ;D

Thanks so much for taking the time to type up all this information, Amy. I have pasted what you wrote onto Word and printed it off. I want to read it more carefully and I want to show my husband. We are blessed with excellent health insurance (my hubby works at UPS). My husband has an excellent Endocrinologist (he has juvenille diabetes) so perhaps I should see him. Thanks again for your time, expertise and most of all for caring.

No problem, babe. I am very seriously thinking of going into Naturopathic health, myself, in the nutriontional/supplements field. My Naturopath thinks I'd be a natural for it. Plus, I am good at listening to people and their problems. Something I picked up as a breast cancer patient survivor. Yeah. I got it when I turned 30 for Christ's sake. Welcome to your 30's Anita, you not only have hypothyroidism but breast cancer, too. So, after I recovered ( they got it all out, it was detected early, Thank God ) and all I had to have was 3 months of radiation afterwards. But I helped many of the psychiatrists/psychologists at OHSU ( where Lance Armstrong went for his cancer treatments ) with their patients who were having a hard time coming to terms with getting cancer. They found it helped their patients if former patients, like myself, volunteered my time to talk to them and let them know that one, they were not alone and two, to know they could and would survive. That was one of the most rewarding and educational years of my life, Rose. So....I've been this way for a very long time now. It's second nature to me. I think nothing of it, really. So please, feel free to ask me about anything you may think I have knowledge about. I like to share my experiences and/or expertise.

It is one of the most widely prescribed prescription drug hormones for helping to regulate one's thyroid gland, that and Synthroid. Believe me, when it comes to alot of medical terms and how to spell them, I am a walking medical dictionary. Not only because of what I have been through medically but I was also an accounting person at a Fortune 500 medical records firm for 8 years. I had to learn medical terminology for that job. Yeah. It was a trip...it's all frickin' Latin.
Just like plant biology, (also a lot of Latin) which I also know a lot about. One of my jobs I had while in college was in a landscaping maintenance crew. I was the ONLY woman on the crew. I had to keep up with ALL the men. They may of had a little of an edge there, but I was a PRO at plant diseases, how to fix them, soil problems, etc. I was the "bookish" one, that is what made me valuable! ;D
Always pays to be well read, I always say! ;D
