Do any of you struggle with your weight like I do? I have been on every diet under the sun (well, not quite). Some has lasted a day, some a week, some a few months, but none last permenently and I always gain the weight back. Having five children has not helped my "figure" but my youngest is nearly five so I can't blame my extra weight on the babies any more. In January I decided I would never go on another diet again. Instead I have tried to take smaller portions, make healthier choices and have junk food be a rare treat instead of a daily habit. I have slowly lost a few pounds (12 since January) but it is a constant, daily struggle for me. Do any of the rest of you fight this weight battle? Edit: My LJ is mostly dedicated to my weight loss struggle, though I do veer off topic from time to time. Here is the link if anyone is interested: rose1966.livejournal.com/

I havent personaly, but my father is at a very unhealthy weight, and i see the problems he has, his biggest issue is stress and sleep, when you are too stressed and dont get enough sleep it adds to the weight, but the key thing to do is excersise to get healthy, and he has no time to do it because he travels so much, i always feel so bad for him in airplanes when he has to get seat belt addtions, or when we go to the movies. its such a hard thing to deal with, and it doesnt help that fast food companies and other on healthy food companies monopilize the food industry, meaning its easier to go and get a bag of chips than a corrot
i duno if that helps any but i noe the difficulties that comes with weight problems and i know you'll be succesful in your conquest for weight lost
congrats on the 12 pounds!

Thanks so much, girls, for being so encouraging. I knew Apolo attracted nice people for fans. ;D Thanks especially for the encouragement about the 12 pounds (which doesn't feel like enough but you girls helped me feel better about it) and the nice comments about my husband. Yes, I do have a great guy for a husband. I am so blessed.

Hey Rose, I don't have a weight issue, but it's great that you have lost weight . ;D My friend is a high school coach, and he said not to eat anything after 8pm, and exercise at least 30 minutes a day. He also said to eat six small meals a day. I don't remember why, but he is in great shape. One of our friends followed his advice and lost weight.

funny you mention the "no eathing after eight" rule because in my latest May edition of Shape Magazine, with Eva Longoria on the cover, it said that actually that it's not true that you will gain weight if you eat after 8pm....
I always thought that to be kinda interesting....

Rose, bless your heart. I have been struggling with mine for 15 years but mine has MOSTLY been due to hypothyroidism and having doctors keep pushing me on the WRONG meds for all of those years. The two biggies that are usually used to treat this, synthroid and levothyroxine did NOTHING for me, I mean ZERO, yet NO "traditional" doctor would help me with any alternatives. They all said it was ME, I was LAZY, all I wanted to do was COMPLAIN, I was a hypochondriac...blah, blah, blah ad nauseum right? Finally, I got myself to a good Naturopathic doctor. She is also hypothyroid and knew EXACTLY what I'd been through because she, too, had been there and had been treated almost EXACTLY how I had been all of those years. My medicine has to be specially made for me at this pharmacy that does that. Plus, I am also going through menopause due to having to of had a hysterectomy at 38 ( it was either that or bleed to death internally, talk about your HARD CHOICES, eh?) So.... I know it's hard to get it off. Even with the right meds now, I had gained a lot over those years, plus, I also had a child at the late age of 37. Have you ever had your T-levels checked? ( Those are the one's that run your thyroid and other endocrine glands ). Hypothyroidism is VERY common and is suffered MORE by women. You may want to have it checked out. I am losing my weight slowly but....better to do it that way. If you lose it too fast, you usually end up not firming up and...it's usually NOT very safe. It took you awhile to gain that weight, it's going to take you awhile to get rid of it. I use my Giselle eliptical glider, walk my dog a lot and do pilates. And I have NEVER felt better in the last 15 years than I do NOW. God, how I wish I could get those years back. But since I CAN'T, I am just doing it a little at a time, seeing results and keeping up the watching what I eat, exercising and keeping a good positive mental attitude. If you want to friend me at Live Journal, go ahead. Mine IS a "friends-only" journal is why I said this....it's the same name THERE as it is in HERE....I'll give you pep talks whenever you need them, babe. I love to help people out with problems when I've either been there, myself, or am going through the same thing. It's nice to know you are NOT ALONE, know what I mean? Don't give up hope, you CAN do this. ;D

Wow! Amy, thanks so much for the wonderful and lengthy reply. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I actually do have hyperthyroidism and have had it for 14 years. I am on levothyroxine. Your post made me wonder if it is doing me any good. Well, it has to be doing me some good because if I forget to take it even one day, I gain five pounds and become very irritable. But perhaps specially made medication like you have would work better. It sounds like you have been through a LOT with your hysterectomy and all. I agree...I am sure it is better to lose weight slowly, even though I want to lose all my weight yesterday. ;D Thanks so much for the pep talk, Amy. I know where to go when I need another one.
