Chapter 14
The day of the wedding arrived and Jacqueline kept on trying to convince herself that she would eventually fall in love with James, the man she is about to marry.
“You look beautiful mija”, her mother said gently, “but is this want you truly want?”
“Don’t start now, please. This is what you and papa wanted for me. So please don’t question me”
“I know, don’t forget the same happened to me child. I don’t regret it, because I had you and your sister. Even still, I wonder how my life would be if I wouldn’t have gone through with this. As you are able to tell your father and I aren’t and weren’t always happy. I’m sorry if this ever affected you children….”, she cleared her throat and went on, “Still, if I would have married the man I love would I have been happier? Don’t let this happen to you, it’s the best advice I am able to give you”, she smiled and walked away.

Meanwhile Apolo was having his own demons to face.
“You love her, go stop the wedding! Yes it’s reckless, but you love her you idiot!”, Shani pleaded.
“It’s because I love her that I don’t want to do something as stupid as that!”, he told his friend.
“You don’t make any sense!”, Shani retorted. “Dude you love her you idiot, you l-o-v-e her!”
“I have to let her try and be happy”
Shani gaped. “What? Happy? You must be out of your freaking mind! She’s going to be miserable because you’re her happiness. Are you blind? Good god”, he threw his hands up in the air.
Apolo just stared at him.
“You know what man, forget you. I’m just wasting my breath on you”, so he walked away leaving Apolo to fight with his conscious.
“What do I do?”, he thought out loud. “Yes I love her but is there anything I can really do?”
Meanwhile…
“I love him, so what the hell am I still doing here”
A soft knock came upon the door, but no one answered.
“Bueno?”, it was Jacqueline’s father. “Jacquie where are you mija?” No one answered. He knew all to well that she was no longer in the church.
People were looking at her rather strangely of course it wasn’t everyday you saw a bride running down the street.
“I can’t stop running. He must think that I’ve already gotten married!”, she was terrified at the thought. “I just hope no one from my family follows me, not like it would matter much”. She could feel her heart beat grow steadily faster and could feel her breathing get heavier and heavier.
Apolo was sitting on the ice-skating arena’s bleachers, his mind wondering. He quickly turned around thinking he had heard a whisper, but no one was there.
“I…had…to…tell…you…that…I…love…you”, came a tired breathless voice from behind.
He seriously couldn’t believe what he saw; the woman he loved dressed in her wedding gown was there.
“What are you doing here?”
“What else. Not getting married, because I’d rather be with you, you idiot”, she smiled. She was in a great deal of pain at the same time; she had run a great deal.
“Hey, I’ve been insulted all day…”, she interrupted.
“Are you going to stand there and just talk or are you going to kiss me?”
He didn’t hesitate he grabbed her and pulled her towards him. He then connected his lips with hers and it was eccentric. He could feel her body tremble, he was almost afraid but didn’t want to let go.
She ran her fingers through his hair and held on to him as if the apocalypse had dawned upon them.
Finally after what seemed an hour he slowly pulled away seeing tears in coming down eyes.
“Don’t cry please”
“I’m sorry. It’s just that now I’m really happy as silly as that sounds”
“No, no it doesn’t. Happiness is just the beginning of our life together if you want it to be”, he asked her in a hopeful tone.
“Of course love, what more would I want?”
“Oh I don’t know?”, he added jokingly.
She laughed.
And with that they both walked to his dormitory hand in hand not knowing exactly what laid ahead for both of them, but they knew what ever it was, it was sure to be wonderful because they were facing it together.
Okay, so this is the end of my story. It only took a year...sorry! Hope it was decent.
