THE FUTURE "We're at the 2010 Olympics in lovely Vancouver, Ontario. The men's 1000m race is preparing to begin and the skaters have just stepped onto the ice. There we see Apolo Anton Ohno for the US Team speaking to his father, Yuki Ohno, and his girlfriend, figure skater Thalia Suarez. Thalia is fresh off her silver medal win from last night and earlier today she spoke to the press."
Press Conference
Q: How does it feel to finally make it to the Olympics?
T: Nothing short of a dream come true. It was a long road.
Q: You won a silver medal last night, the first for the US Team for these games, does this make you want the gold medal next?
T: Definitely. It just adds to this desire to hold that medal in my hands and know it's all mine.
Q: Will you be supporting Apolo today at his competition?
T: I will be in the stands with Yuki. He doesn't miss my competitions if he can help it, and it's just what we do. We've been together a long time now, about three years, and we just have a formula that works for us.
Q: Do you think he'll win gold?
T: I have a biased opinion, but really I'm rooting for all of the US Team. They're all wonderful people, terrific athletes, and we're all here for a common goal.
"Thalia Suarez and Apolo Anton Ohno. America's Olympic love story. They met three years ago in Colorado Springs and have been at each others' sides ever since. This is of course no exception. We can see Apolo getting into the zone. He just shared a quick talk with his father and Thalia. There's his traditional yawn as he gets into place at the starting line."
A gun shot.
"There's the shot and Apolo's taking his time at the back of the line. That's how he likes to do it. He likes to conserve his energy until the last half and then shoot straight up to victory."
As the world watched, Apolo grasped the gold medal with what looked like no effort at all. Cameras were focused on him and Thalia from all angles. on the sidelines she jumped up and down, hugged Yuki and clapped wildly.
"She certainly is his biggest fan," the announcer said.
Apolo flew over to the wall and gave her a big kiss and his dad a big hug. They shared some private words and the world watched as the announcers lead them out to a commercial break.
At the 2010 Winter Games, Thalia went on to win two gold medals, and her original silver. Apolo won a gold and a silver. When asked what her plans were after the Olympics were over, Thalia said she was going to concentrate on fixing up the ranch house she had just bought in Utah where she and Apolo planned to finally move in together. At the closing ceremony the cameras zoomed in on Apolo and Thalia standing next to each other, huddling under a blanket. He turned to the cameraman and you could make out the words: "Are you ready?" He must have received a thumbs up or some other positive gesture because he smiled and turned to Thalia. She looked confused, but then he pulled out a teal box. The classic symbol of Tiffany's & Co. Her jaw dropped as he opened the box and the ring box inside of it to display her dream ring (fashioned and inspired by Jean Harlow) and asked her to marry him.
She threw her arms around him and said yes with a kiss. He slipped the ring on her finger and she yelled over the crowd who were watching them on a jumbotron screen. "I'm getting married, Ma!!"
They kissed again and the camera cut to the closing ceremony with a scrolling "Congratulations, Apolo and Thalia!" along the bottom of the screen.
TWO MONTHS LATER
Back in Utah, Thalia and Apolo fell into their bed still dressed in their wedding attire. They had gotten married at 7pm under a canopy of silk and candles. She wore a strapless Grecian-style creme-colored gown with Swarovski crystals around the upper torso, and her hair (now long and it's natural dark chocolate brown color) was loose and in big, soft curls. Torro, Toto and their newest family member (a rescued rooster the Humane Society found under fed along with a bunch of other animals; Thalia adopted the rooster because no one seemed to want him), Atlas, were strolled down the aisle in a red wagon. Halfway down the aisle, Atlas jumped ship and caused a little chaos. It was just as Apolo and Thalia had planned. Julianne served as one of the bridesmaids, and Joey Fatone (Apolo's competitor on DWTS) was a groomsman. Sitting in the crowd were teammates from the Olympics, family, other DWTS alumni (Laila Ali, Ian Ziering, Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy) and some prominent actors and musicians from America and Latin America.
The couple partied until 2am before their friends left and they retired to their room. In the distance, Atlas crowed, and somewhere under the bed, Torro was snoring. Toto had passed out in the living room next to the fireplace and was now occupying a spot with his favorite blanket in the den.
"Are you happy?" Apolo asked.
"No at all," Thalia joked with a goofy, sleepy smile.
"Me either." he added.
They kissed and Thalia began unbuttoning his shirt. Three long years of waiting was finally at its end. During the reception, Thalia joked that that was the reason Apolo asked her to marry him, to which he responded by raising his glass and saluting everyone in the room.
"Mrs. Apolo Anton Ohno," he said.
"Uh-uh," she corrected, taking his shirt off completely. "Mr. Thalia Suarez."
"Shut up and kiss me."
She obeyed and their forever finally began.
