author's note: alright. now that i've finally been able to sit down at the compy for more than 5 minutes...read. reply. enjoy. im done blabbing. here y'are.
part three:
"em. emily. wake up. tell me about last night,"
i felt a push on my mid-back, and i closed my eyes even more tightly. i heard callie's voice echoing through my head. i knew i should get up. i sort of wanted to get up. but more than that, i wanted to sleep. i was tired. i wanted to sleep. just for a few more minutes at least.
"emily, please? what happened?"
i sighed and rubbed my eyes. "god, callie. can't you tell im TRYING to sleep?" i said, rolling over to face her.
she clicked her tounge against her teeth and handed me her cell phone. "look. it's already 1:00. you really should get up."
my eyes sprang open. 1:00? no way. i needed to be dressed, showered, beautified and all that jazz in one hour. oh shiet. i glanced at the phone. "shiet shiet!!" i cried, throwing the covers off the bed, leaping out. i rummaged through my suitcase pulling out a flirty pink satin dress. i ran into the bathroom, slammed the door, and started the shower. i jumped in and began to get clean.
"emilyyyy raee!! tell me what happened!!" callie's voice penetrated the thick wooden door.
i ignored her, running my hands through my wet hair to get the shampoo and suds all out. i grabbed my loofah and scrubbed all over my body getting nice and clean.
"em. i know you hear me"
i was starting to get annoyed. not ONLY was i stressed out from being put under all this pressure for time for my date, but she was bugging me. it wasn't MY fault she didn't go to the party. she could've witnessed first hand what had happened. although i highly doubt that the same sort of thing would've happened if she was there.
"emmmm"
i squeezed the excess water from my hair and shut the water off. i wrapped a towel around my body and pulled the door open. "shut up, callie, okay? jeeez. you would've known what happened if you had just went to the party! besides. i dont really have time to tell you the whole thing in detail, because i need to be out the door in like...45 minutes," i said, closing the door again and slipping some underwear and the sleek dress on. i dryed my hair with the hair dryer, applied my usual heavy eyeliner and mascara, and opened the door. 1:52. i had a little bit of time to spare. i looked around the room. callie was gone. a note was lying on my pillow saying she went shopping and not to worry about her. i sighed and slipped some slippers on.
"emily? its me, apolo. can you open the door, please"
my heart skipped a beat. apolo was here. i tried to help smiling, but i couldn't. i ran and opened the door. there he was. standing in all of his radiance. his sleek brown hair combed back, but slightly wavy. a brown leather jacket over a black shirt that hugged his body ever so slightly. he wore faded jeans with a slight rip in them in the upper thigh. he smiled at me as he quickly eyed what i was wearing. i smiled, stepped into the hallway and closed the door behind me.
"lets go," i said anxiously, lacing my fingers with his.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"okay. so what about...a nice dinner...?" apolo asked, while we sat in his beautiful car.
i nodded. "that sounds fantastic, apolo, anywhere with you would be fantastic,"
he smiled and looked at me briefly before setting his eyes back on the road. he drove in silence for a while, watching the sides of the road carefully. finally, after what must have been 20 minutes of silence, he pulled into a valet parking lot and helped me out of the car.
we approached the french bistro, le chateau france, and took our seats quickly. apolo suggested a few items, and we ordered together. apolo was immediately bombarded by fans, and was polite enough to take the publicity into another unoccupied part of the restaurant. i sat there alone, feeling just a little bit awkward.
"hello there miss,"
i looked up. an older man, maybe late 30's, had filled apolo's empty seat.
"oh, im sorry. someone's sitting there," i said, trying to be polite.
"i don't see them sitting here now. and besides. their name isn't on it" he said obnoxiously.
i rolled my eyes. "he should be back any minute, and i'd prefer to be alone until he comes back, thanks," i said, my voice icy with annoyance.
"aww, why you gotta be like that, beautiful? come on. let's just take a little step out back and do a li'l sominsomin," he said, winking and grabbing my hand.
i jerked it back. "im sorry, but im here with someone else. and besides. i wouldn't go out there with you anyway,"
"well, love. you dont really have a choice," he said, standing up and pulling me up out of the chair.
"let go of me!" i said, trying to wrench out of his grip.
"come on, dear, dont make a scene now," he cooed, pulling me in closer to him.
"let..me..go" i said angrily, trying to push myself away.
"i think she wants you to let her go,"
i turned. apolo was standing there, looking intensely at the man who was attempting to drag me outside. i looked at apolo pleadingly. the older man clicked his tounge against his teeth and continued to harass me.
"let me go, i said!" i cried, struggling to break free.
"let her go, man," apolo said, walking over to us.
"oh lookie. its big shot apolo anton ohno. whatcha gonna do, huh?" he sneered, pulling me even closer. "you want her? huh? fine. come and get her." he cackled, loosening his grip ever so slightly.
apolo took his chance. he pulled his arm back and with all his might, thrust his fist into my agressors face. the older man stumbled and reeled backward, letting me go. i hobbled over to apolo, putting my hand on his shoulder. the older man looked up, touching his bleeding lip. he looked at me, and then to apolo.
"she's not worth that much," he said, licking the blood away and walking out of the restaurant.
the entire restaurant was looking at apolo and me now. i bit my lower lip and looked at him. "thanks" i muttered, smiling.
he looked at me smilling as well. "maybe, we should skip dinner? i should just take you home. i think you've had enough drama for one day," he said, grabbing my hand.
i squeezed his hand and nodded. "yeah. i think i just need to rest and calm down," i said, running my free hand through my hair.
we drove home in utter silence. there wasn't much to say. apolo had just saved me from a traumatic experience. i didn't know how to approach it. i didn't know what to do next. i went from feeling like i knew everything about him, to feeling like i had no connection with him at all. i sniffed and leaned my head against the window, until we got back to my hotel. he pulled up to the curb and pulled the door open for me. i got out and smoothed my skirt out.
"im sorry it didnt go better, em," he said sadly, looking intensly into my eyes.
"it wasn't your fault. you know that. it was that arsehole's fault," i said, putting my hand on his cheek and looking into his beautiful eyes.
he looked down and didn't say anything. he just leaned his head down and kissed me full on the lips, nothing held back. for a second i stood there shocked, but, i kissed him back, hard and we stood outside kissing, not caring who saw us. not caring that it was out in the middle of everything. not caring at all. and this feeling was electric. i felt it in my toes and everywhere. energy. his hands caressed my back and my neck and my hands held his face. there we stood, lips locked and tounges moving, oblivious to the passing world. finally, he pulled away, smiling.
"i should go. i've got a big race tomorrow. you'll be there..?" he asked hopefully, holding my hand.
i nodded. "of course i'll be there to support you," i said, kissing him lightly on the lips.
"good. cuz, what would i be without my girlfriend?" he asked, kissing me one last time, before getting into his car and driving away.
i smiled and darted upstairs to my room, to find callie emptying seven different department store bags into her suitcase. she saw me and smiled.
"you're glowing again," she said, a hint of annoyance.
"and this time, im ready to tell you EVERYTHING,"
