author's note: aha. sorry if it like cuts off in a weird place, cuz im supposed to be going to sleep in a bit and my parents are a bit anal tonight. :] hahh. thanks for all the positive feedback, and i hope you enjoy the second part. :]
"im not going," callie said bitterly, flopping onto the bed. she looked at me, her eyes showing hurt. "im not going. and you cant make me," she said, lying down and covering her face with her hands.
"cal, how can you not go?! are you kidding? you're going to pass up a chance to party with apolo freaking ohno? callie, we came to vancouver to meet him together. and we are going to party with him together. got it? now, get up." i said, pushing her body a little bit.
she groaned, and rolled over onto her side. she brought her legs up to her stomach and sighed. "im not going em. im tired. i have jet lag."
"jet lag?!! are you kidding? callie, that is the worst excuse i've ever heard to not do something. you dont get jet lag from traveling like...1000 miles in the same TIME ZONE," i said angrily, looking in the mirror at my reflection and fixing my makeup. i looked at her and rolled my eyes. "whatever cal. im still going. you can miss out on your chance of a lifetime," i said, pulling my hair down from it's ponytail and grabbing my purse. i shook my hair to make it look messy, and grabbed the door handle. "don't wait up," i said angrily, before walking out the door and heading to the party.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"emily, you made it!"
i spun quickly around to see apolo standing there, hands in his pockets. i smiled and walked toward him, taking my jacket off slowly. "yeah, you know, callie was really tired and wanted to sleep, and you know, i cant really go travel all around canada without her, so i just decided to come here since i had nothing too much better to do," i said playfully, throwing the jacket over my shoulder.
"sure sure. you know you wanted to come see me and all," he said flirtatiously touching my arm. "come on, lets get something to drink,"
the party was at a canadian athelete's house and there were rooms full of people doing all sorts of things; eating, dancing, drinking, making out, and talking. we walked into the kitchen, where there was an entire refrigerator full of beer. we pulled two out and walked out of the kitchen. we wandered around the house in silence looking for a quiet place for the two of us to just sit and chat. finally, we found a quiet room upstairs.
hours went by like minutes. the next time i looked at the clock, it was two am. i'd honestly felt as if i had known apolo my entire life before this and we were just two friends catching up. he was so interesting; so many dreams, so many goals, so many values, so much dedication. he was such an impressive person. he was so genuine and down to earth. exactly what you would hope he was like, very gracious.
"come on, em. i'd better take you back to your hotel," he said, standing up from his indian-style sitting position on the couch. "it's late,"
"do you have a race tomorrow?" i asked, getting myself up and stretching ever so slightly. i ran a hand through my hair and yawned.
"fortunately no. i was thinking of maybe getting some practice in, if nothing better comes up," he said, smiling slightly. "come on,"
from the moment we left the room to the time we got to my hotel, apolo and i didn't cease conversation. i honestly felt so at peace with him; like i could say anything and he wouldn't judge me. like, i'd known him so long. like, he could understand me. we reached my hotel, and apolo leapt from the car to go open my door for me. i smiled and laughed.
"you're such a gentleman!!" i said, smiling and curtsying to him.
"i do try," he said jokingly bowing.
i smiled shyly and looked down at my shoes. i didn't know what to do now. do i kiss him goodbye? do i just leave it at that? what?
"hey, emily. do you have any plans tomorrow?" he asked, blushing slightly and fiddling with his jacket sleeves.
"um, depends if i get any offers," i said smiling.
"did you want to..um..go out tomorrow? since i dont have a race. you dont have anything to do. it would only seem fit." he rushed, not looking up.
"out as in date? or out as in hang out?"
"date"
inside i grinned. i couldn't be happier. i would've never thought it would come to this. not only did i MEET apolo. not only did i PARTY with apolo. im GOING OUT with apolo. and not just like "hang-out-just-as-friends" stuff. no. im GOING OUT with him. as in DATE. every fiber of my being was trying extremely hard to not show my excitement on the outside. i swallowed and tried my best to seem collected and calm like he was.
"a date with you? well, i don't know..." i said, shrugging and biting my lower lip. i looked up and saw his face fall ever so slightly. "i'm kidding, apolo, im kidding. i'm totally there. why don't you come by to get me at around...say...two? that way i know i'll be up," i said smiling.
he smiled and looked up. "yeah, definitely. so i'll see you tomorrow," he said, his voice ringing with happiness. i was glad to know that i wasn't the only one a little more than happy about this date. he smiled and took a step toward me. "well, goodnight then, emily." he leaned down and kissed my cheek so softly, that i was almost unsure that it happened. he pulled away, brushed my cheek with his hand, got back into the car, and peeled away from the curb before i even had time to react.
i walked into the room, my face glowing. callie was sitting up in the bed flipping through television channels. she looked at me, looked at the tv, then looked back at me her head cocked. she put the remote up to her mouth.
"okay, spill. what happened. youre freaking glowing." she said happily, pulling the covers up under her chin.
i finally caught my breath and i screamed as loudly as i could. i plopped down on the bed beside callie, and i grabbed a pillow. "callie, you wouldn't even believe it if i told you. it was so incredible, even I almost dont believe it. it was just too incredible. i have to tell you in the morning, because right now, im exhausted and im too in disbelief to even start. i love you so much callie," i said, smiling the entire time.
callie nodded understandingly, she turned the tv off, rolled over and fell asleep. i closed my eyes and thought of all the things that happened that night and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of all the things that would happen tomorrow.
author's nore: sorry. had to cut it short, and the end is really abrupt, but like. i need to get off the compy, and all...haha. i'll edit it later. :]
