Lori, as always, thanks for the detailed and patient explanation of how the system works. I'll be stopping by when I can over the weekend to see what the results are and read everyone's commentary. I get the impression you're thinking you can watch it on Korean internet TV? They were able to watch it on the internet last year for the Worlds in Milan. I and others have been asking around if that will happen this year, but so far, we only have the Korean link from last year, so we'll have to see if it works this year. One can hope.... Mari, consider it done. You're already logged into the cell phone.

I deleted some of my earlier 'speculative' posts in favor of some more reliable info gathered from OZ (thanks SusanG, Noelle and Dove)
We do get to have 3 men skating individual distances this weekend, but we only get 2 women - the rest of the team is used for the relay, or as 'reserves'. As Mtnme suspected, it's all based on the USA's performance in LAST year's Championships.
Each nation can enter 2 skaters in the individual distances. However, if any nation had MORE than one skater in the top 16 in last year's Championships, with at least one of them getting points in a 'Final', then that nation earns the right to have 3 skaters in this year's Championships. On the men's side, both Apolo and Jordan Malone filled the bill, so we get 3 men this year. On the ladies' side, only Allison made the top 16 (#8), so we only get 2 this time around...
Our 5 skaters are (based on their rankings at Nationals in Dec): Men: Apolo Ohno, Jeff Simon, Ryan Leveille Ladies: Katherine Reutter, Allison Baver
The remaining skaters are used for the relay, and/or 'reserves': Kimberly Derrick; Lana Gehrig; Carly Wilson; J.P. Kepka; Jordan Malone
Also, I was told that our starting '5' will skate all distances - the 500M, 1000M, 1500M, and (hopefully) the 3000M SuperFinal, which is the tie-breaker among the top 8. They'll most likely skate the relay as well, but that doesn't count toward the individual title.
Good news! The training photos that Wildfire mentioned above show Jeff Simon skating right along with the rest of 'em - you'd never know that 4 weeks ago he had a broken collarbone! Jeff, you ROCK!

Thanks, Skaterswaltz, for bumping the schedule - good idea!
I've also typed up/converted the AmCup schedule - I'll post it on the AmCup thread that Mtnme started last night.
Mtnme, that is the correct link for the data feed. When they're racing, you should see a 'live results' thingy up near the top that you can click. Just remember that this is DATA, not video/audio. It's really quite interesting, and can be as exciting (and less confusing) than video/audio, especially if the video/audio isn't really good quality...
...just be prepared to look foolish in front of your pets as you're screaming at little numbers flashing on the screen in the middle of the night.

Yeah, Skaterswaltz, that would be the groupings for the heats. They had the draw at dark o'clock (our time) this morning, so I guess they're putting them up.
EDIT: I'm only seeing the 1500M lineups so far.

Looks like the mens and women's 1500 are posted (lineups), but none of the other races....

I'm hoping y'all on the West Coast will post results here too since most likely I'll be sleeping in New England. Since I have to be at work by 7:15 I never seem to make it past 11 pm. Sigh. I hate it when work gets in the way of an obsession.

So do we have a volunteer tonight to post the results from Live Results? It would be a shame if we all assumed someone else was going to do it, only to miss the posting (since the posting is so brief).
I'd put my hand up for it, but I'm in BOston and like Mari, it will be a long night for me. I'm going to try to stay awake for it, but you never know....Also I'm rebounding from day 2 of a nasty gastro/intestinal/stomach bug, so am a bit more tired than usual.
I envy all of you who will be tuning in at an earlier time than we are!

The opening ceremony isn't scheduled until approximately 2 more hours, but I've been trying out these two links ahead of time to see if we'll get any live video feed---I have been told by a few people that they have been getting some type of programming from these links...I'm getting nada--a blank media player screen for the second link, and nothing at all for the first one. I know that it isn't certain that either of those will carry a feed, but anyone have any success with these?
