Thank you everyone for the info on the coverage in Korea. Man, I would go if I could (and believe me I thought about it), but just not possible. It looks like we'll just have to wait for the "broadcasts" on March 22/23 on http://www.wcsn.com: web.wcsn.com/schedule/index.jsp?s=34032&e=isu_schedWish there was a way we would have a conference call or chat and watch it "together."

I think that the chances are good that this will be carried live on Korean television (which should be available over the internet.) This is how we watched the Worlds in Milan last year.

I think that the chances are good that this will be carried live on Korean television (which should be available over the internet.) This is how we watched the Worlds in Milan last year. Then it will be a great, online party as we swap comments as to the races. Do we have anyone in the forum that speaks fluent Korean? At the time that I'm writing this, it is Wednesday, 2/20 at 11:34 am. So it looks like they are 14 hours AHEAD of us. --or--conversely, we are 14 hours behind them! So let's say they are skating saturday evening, 7pm, that would be Friday at 5 for us. Oh no, do we need to skip work on Friday? For the current time in Korea, go to www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=235. Curren temperature is 39 degree F.

I'm really appreciating all this info. I'm with Barbara... if there was a way I'd be on a plane to Korea with my little flags. Maybe next year. A tune up for 2010. Go TEAM USA. I'll be pulling for my fave Jeff to heal fast and blast through that 500.

So it looks like things are shaking out like this.... Unless we can come up with some way, with someone to a direct link, of live action, we'll be sadly huddled around our computers during these timeframes, goggling like crazy to find any ap reports. This of course is for when the races are actually run. Perhaps one of our Canadian or Brit friends will have more access this time than we do?
By the time it comes around on WCSN (2 weeks later), we will already know the results but will be avidly watching anyway! And I bet we would have seen some of the skating out on Youtube.
And I'm thinking that the final day's races will be shown on WCSN Easter (probably not a big deal in Korea!).
Am I thinking correctly here?

Lori, thanks so much for posting the schedule. It looks like sleep is going to have to "happen when it happens" that weekend! Last year for the Worlds in Milan, we watched live streaming video on SBS TV, Korea. I don't know if they will be covering this year's Worlds, but here are the links just in case. I've put an all-call up on OZ for the Korean fans who monitor the site to let us know about TV coverage, as they did last year. Olympic Gold Medallists to Miss Short Track WorldsTurin Winter Olympic triple gold medallists Jin Sun-yu, left, and Ahn Hyun-soo will miss the Short Track World Championships, which will be held in Gangneung, Gangwon Province from March 7 to 9, due to injuries. / Korea Times FileBy Sang-hee Han Staff Reporter
South Korea's short track speed skating stars, Ahn Hyun-soo and Jin Sun-yu will not make the short track world championships held here due to injuries, causing the team worries.
According to Ahn's management, IB Sports, the 22-year-old Turin Olympic gold medallist will not be able to join the team because of a knee fracture.
``He had a reexamination, but the doctors said that it would be difficult for him to compete,'' IB Sports said.
Ahn was looking forward to winning six consecutive victories and beating China's Yang Yang A's record this year. He will be concentrating on his medical treatment and training.
The women's short track team is also in desperation as their 20-year-old Jin Sun-yu will also drop out of the tournament.
``Jin injured her ankle during a rather aggressive match with the Chinese players at the World Cup Short Track this month. She returned home in a wheel chair and wasn't even able to put her skates on,'' Song Jae-geun, the team's coach said to Yonhap News Agency. Considering her condition, the coach and Jin made the decision to not attend the tournament and work on healing her ankle as soon as possible.
``She tried putting on her skates after medical treatment, but it was still uncomfortable,'' Song said.
Meanwhile, Apolo Anton Ohno, who stunned the nation with his ``Hollywood action'' at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, will return to Seoul as a member of the United States team.
``Ohno will arrive at the Incheon International Airport on March 2 and will immediately head to Gangneung, Gangwon Province, to attend the world championships,'' the Korea Skating Union (KSU) said.
It will be his first visit for a tournament in 29 months, following the 2005-2006 International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup Short Track.
The U.S. short track champion has been busy with other matters, such as appearing as a contestant and eventually winning first place in the famed television program, ``Dancing with the Stars.'' sanghee@koreatimes.co.kr

I feel badly for them, as I know they deserve to be there. And I'm sure the other skaters will miss them, too, since they all thrive on competition and respect one another. I wish them a speedy recovery! I am excited for Apolo. Can't wait to see how he performs! I'll be stalking this board and OZ next weekend for updates! Yeah! ;D

I'm guessing that the team is already in transit to Gangneung, Korea, or they will be very shortly. Once they arrive in Incheon Airport in Seoul, they still have to travel roughly 120 miles (probably by land) to Gangneung, which is on Korea's east coast (for a total travel time in excess of 24 hours, OUCH!)
I think it likely that Apolo will make a stopover to see his family in Japan on the way home. I can't imagine that the sole remaining competiton after Korea, World Teams, would be a huge priority for him.
GO TEAM USA!
