This thread is to discuss the Bank of America partnership with Apolo.
Apolo is a perfect spokesperson for this because he is on the go all of the time, and we know he's always on his phone. Also, online banking is a 'go green' activity, saving trees from not using paper checks. This fits perfectly into one of Apolo's goals of aligning himself with eco-friendly developments. Also, his age is a factor, I'm sure, in snagging younger crowd.
I've been wondering how they plan to use Apolo in their campaign. I'm a bit surprised that BOA made an announcement which hit all of the news wires, and then there were a few interviews on Fox and NY local stations. I thought these several interviews were a bit strange in their local-ness. I mean, why all of a sudden would he pick up and go to NY for these smaller audiences? If these were strictly BOA driven, why the out of mainstream interviews?
It takes alot for Apolo to come out of SLC and his training mode; maybe he had to come to NYC to sign the contract, press the flesh of the BOA execs. But I don't know, the few TV interviews he did just seemed to be small time for the BOA budget that I'm sure was appropriated.
Or---maybe BOA paid for him to go to NYC and he just did a few quick pickups to earn some extra $$ and keep the exposure going. What do you think?
Do we think this is the end of the BOA media hype?
Will BOA show up on his skinsuit?
I don't know if any of you have gone to bankofamerica.com/anywhere, which is the campaign to attract folks 'on the go' to their online banking. There's an guy, outdoorsy, backpacker who sells you on the product. I thought, when I saw him, that it would have been a perfect spot for Apolo to appear.
So Apolo appeared for a short few days and now has vanished again. Is there more to appear for BOA? I've been wondering if they are shooting commercials, or he's been attending some trade shows for them, etc. And I thought, what is the biggest venue for commercials? The biggest audience to be reached at one showing, and the thought came to me:
SUPERBOWL!! Wouldn't it be great to see Apolo appear in 3-4 different commercials at the superbowl?
What do you think this partnership is all about in terms of having Apolo appear endorsing the product?
