Lindsay, so glad you got your copy of Muscle & Body. Regarding the drool, I've had to dry mine out several times in the microwave. Oh well!

I'm not the sarcastic type. Can't make jokes well either. Probably too serious for my own good. But, yes, I do believe he's 5'8". I think he looks smaller because of his body proportions. He has a slightly bigger than normal head for his build. And he doesn't have really long legs. And that's probably why people think he looks shorter than 5'8". Why would he lie about his height? I'd like to know. I don't think it's conceit. If it was, he'd be wearing shoes with raised heels and lifts or whatever to make him appear taller. A lot of men do that, but I haven't seen Apolo doing that. How could he lie...it's on the official olympic website that he is 5'8" isn't it? I'd think they would have nailed him by now if it wasn't true? |

And, I loved this response that was sprinkled with humor: "I wish I could do a lot of things without suffering the consequences. There's always that double-edge sword. 'Apolo, if you buy this car, this is the amount of money that's going to be deducted from your bank account.' It would be nice if the money would kind of stay there." Thanks doonick for the link.
Reading the interview I recognized some of the quotes I've seen but in the context of the entire article, it takes on a different perspective.
Especially Apolo's comments regarding David Creswell and his influence on Apolo as a teenager.
....."About halfway through I'd always lose focus and make a mistake and he would make these insinuating remarks like 'How do you feel about that last shot?' He'd drive me freaking crazy. I'd be , 'What about your last seven shots?'
Can't you just imagine the teenaged Apolo being a smarta$$?
There are a lot of people who knew Apolo in the early days and his drive to WIN! Also his cockiness. I love the recognition he gives to Yuki, Maria Kelly and David Creswell. He has grown into a phenomenal man; (I still think his long hair is a shoutout to the inner rebel.)
And Oprah???Who knew???
