Excellent first post, Nell - now that's the way to make an entrance - welcome! I think I can speak for everyone when I say that at Nationals we had pure-breeds (one site), half-breeds (two sites) and lovable mutts (who hit 'em all) - and we all got along great. Nobody even tried to throw snowballs at Mtnme in the parking lot, though she probably deserved it!

WOW, Lexi--didn't know you had been banned. Me too from a.com because I just casually wondered what happend to the original moderator. I guess freedom of speech isn't important over there! LOL No loss for me.
In rereading everyone's comments, it seems we really do want all the same things; understanding and respect and for Apolo to race, race, race. In the final analysis, I guess this group may actually let bygones, be byones.
And yeah sk8on Dance Wars, more like dance bores and the singing isn't that hot either. It's like Simon said to a recent AI hopeful; you are average, you have a nice quality to your voice, but it's just average.
There is no amount of "star power" that Bruno & Carianne can bring to DW to pull the viewer in. The concept is not entertaining--IMHO--for my age group (cough, cough). It reminds me of the kids trying out for the high school play back in the day when I was involved in that venue and some of our high schoolers were better than some of these kids.
And prepare yourself, I'm sure this crop of entertainers will appear on DWTS6 and perform on a Results show, so all you Zack shippers and or non-shippers, hunker down NOW. LOL

Nell, welcome! One thing that surprised me at the Cleveland Nationals was how many lurkers and semi-lurkers there are in the fandom.

Nell, sorry I missed welcoming you. Glad you came out of lurkdom to join us on here. WOW, Lexi--didn't know you had been banned. Me too from a.com because I just casually wondered what happend to the original moderator. I guess freedom of speech isn't important over there! LOL No loss for me. I shouldn't laugh, Gasp, but I can't think of a more ridiculous reason to be banned. I guess feeling we have a right to know who's moderating a board crosses the line of message board decorum. As for me being banned from DI, I was given a choice by the Admin. to, basically, adhere to HER rules or leave. I chose to leave and insisted she delete my account immediately. I told her I didn't have respect for her or how she conducted the boards. Sometimes things are just meant to be as GA is, by far, the best Apolo chat board on the web. With regard to DW, I have to admit I'm not as sold on it now as I was in the beginning. I agree with whoever said they just don't see it being a bonified avenue to a successful career in the industry. What a shame Drew's associated with it. It kinda relegates him to Joey "Mr. Singing Bee" Fatone level. Sometimes networks would be wise to leave well enough alone. Spin offs never work.

I don't know Lexi, Frasier was a great spinoff of Cheers. But you are right. One of the few that worked.
& LORI (GND) snowballs in the parking lot in December? How about my snow angels that were totally lost on the locals? But I did them when nobody else was outside, so you may have missed it! And FYI the snow was so deep on one of them, that when I finished, it looked like a very well endowed male snow angel. LOL

Oh, the snow angel was YOU? LOL! for some reason I thought it was Breidy - I just remember something like 'you have to understand, I'm from TEXAS!' (I even read it with a Texas accent..., as in 'I'm from Tayk'-sas!') I didn't see the snow angel, but I saw the story! Sorry you can't make it again...

Nell, welcome! One thing that surprised me at the Cleveland Nationals was how many lurkers and semi-lurkers there are in the fandom. Cleveland nationals from 2007? really..i would love to hear about this... I was sitting in the VIP section -- which was much smaller than the VIP section at the SLC Nationals. I struck up conversations with those around me by asking if they were OZ'ers (figuring that every ST fan reads OZ, right?) That's when I discovered that there is a significant number of people who never, or rarely, post on any of the boards (but who do read them religiously.) That was an interesting time, because the world of ST was colliding head-on with the world of DWTS. As fans, we were bonding with each other. At the same time, we were all sitting around Julianne, and getting to know her and like her. We were periodically getting pulled off to do on-camera interviews, and were doing other bits to please the cameraman, some of which were aired and some of which hit the cutting-room floor. It was fun and exhilarating. Julianne liked her prospects with Apolo at that point...she hoped to make the top four. And she did! There is a part of me that feels that Apolo had mixed feelings about doing DWTS at that point. Maybe it was the timing, since the skating season was not yet over. It was a different sort of ST meet for the fans, and perhaps in some ways for him as well.

At this point, if there was a website devoted to Apolo bouncing on a pogo stick in Central Park, I'd go there too to see what it was about, but I wouldn't go running out to buy a pogo stick. (Although I might be tempted to go to NYC to check that out for myself!) At any rate, I'm here and there and anywhere that helps me on my quest for Apolo-knowledge. Nell - bingo! You described so eloquently why some of us like to search any and all sites for Apolo news and pictures. They all have their different flavors, take and varying degrees of intensity on the whole phenomenon that is Apolo Anton Ohno from Olympic Medalist to DWTS Champion to Short Track Speed Skater to just Very Inspiring and Interesting (& Gorgeous!) Person and back again. But it is so fun sifting through them for what interests us...kind of like panning for gold. And you also meet some really wonderful people along the way. Welcome!

Hey Nell--- ;D I swore off this particular thread days ago--seems like everyone is pretty much set in their opinions so okay I guess---if you don't shop around you miss what you miss--but I am so happy to see you pop up here, you will like it here, another perspective and some nice people who agree to disagree most of the time, Lori I love you--you know that I think, but I guess I am a 'mutt' not too thrilled with that description?!? --chat soon--olympia

Lori I love you--you know that I think, but I guess I am a 'mutt' not too thrilled with that description?!? --chat soon--olympia Olympia, 'Oh-No' (yeah, bad pun) - I distinctly said ' lovable' mutt, and 'twas meant in the most loving way! I, myself, am merely a 'half-breed', 'cause I get overwhelmed when I try to keep up with more than 2! I trust y'all to tell me the 'good stuff' from elsewhere...
