I better make this thread before I get too busy today. I think the group dance is tonight... the Viennese Waltz. I hope John R. gets to stay another week. He is such a cutie pie! It's going to be heartbreaking to see any of them go home this week. They have all worked so hard.
I heard Apolo and Julian are doing the Mambo as well... very hot! Can't wait!!!!

Ooh, the Mambo--I'm sure whatever they cook up will be smokin'! Does Julianne do all the choreography herself? It seems that way from the *behind-the-scenes* footage... I noticed that Laila Ali started changing it up a bit to include more of her personality... do you think Apolo will do/has done the same?
I'm not familiar with the Viennese Waltz... it sounds beautiful, though, and I remember how much I loved Apolianne's first waltz! Anything along those lines will be fabulous, I'm sure.
On a side note, I can't say I'm surprised Apolo is doing well, but isn't it great that he IS doing this well? What if he had been horrible? What would we have done with ourselves? lol. I'm so happy he's stayed in and gotten better--it really shows how diverse and talented of a person he is.

I'm on the west coast, so I don't know, but that comment doesn't sound promising...

I feel the judges were very hard on Apolo and Juliann. I think maybe they were expecting perfection after the last two weeks. But, I feel they did just as well as the other couples that received higher scores, and I enjoyed Apolo's mambo much better than any of the other Latin dances.

Those judges were a bit too harsh, and I'm not too thrilled about it. They did amazing. It was better than good. It was amazing. What the hell?

Len woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He hasn't liked Apolo's dances except the samba. Len's favorites seem to be Laila and Joey. Laila got all 10's for her samba, and I didn't like it at all. IMO I thought it should have received 9's and not 10's because it was boring. Joey's jive was great, and deserved the perfect score Apolo did great, but the scores didn't match the dances in my opinion. The mambo was hot, and I liked Bruno's comment: "This guy is somebody who has never danced before, and when he's out here, you think he's been dancing all his life. The voice of reason" and his vote a 10. ;D Loved Apolo's comment that he wishes that the judging was more consistant. ;D

I feel like after tonight, Apolo will have even more drive to work harder. I have a feeling that next week will be better =) (gotta be optimistic, right? hehehe)

I agree Baila, tough criticism is a great motivator. Apolo will probably try to reach even further inside to find more to give on that dance floor next time. However, I don't like the judges using the old teachers trick of brow beating the ones with the most potential. The old "I expect more from you". If his dance completely lacked luster, I could understand it, but as good as they were, I don't think such comments were justified. Anyway, things weren't as bad as I'd feared when I first read the east coast comments. All in all, I thought they were just fine, and in no real danger of the glowing red light.

First of all, I stand corrected. No group dance. Don't know where I read that... The trouble with the judging is that the judges rate the celebs relative to each individual's abilities/potential rather than relative to each other. In other words, they are scoring Apolo based on what they've seen from him and what they expect given his age, athleticism, etc., not in comparison to Laila or "Yoey" (I love when she calls him that). That's why it seems inconsistent. The judges were hard on him, yes, but honestly, perhaps due to travel last week, I thought Apolo and Julianne seemed a little underrehearsed. The choreography was spectacular, and compared to the others, I think Apolo blows them all out of the water, but another day of practice would have made all the difference. It's to his credit that he pulled it off as well as he did, and I think he's gonna rock it out hard next week. I just hope he didn't alienate the judges with his comment. That's our boy, keepin' it real. *Bella blowing kisses to Baila* *Now picturing Apolo "rockin' it out... HARD"*

I, too, was unhappy with Len's scores and comments for Apolo and Julianne. I thought they did a great job with both dances! Like you, Bella, I appreciated Apolo's comment and hope it does not have a negative affect on the judges (Len in particular) -- or the voters. I'm sure the fans agreed with him and it will inspire them to vote! I hope my feeling is correct that Len is just trying to make the show interesting and keep Apolo and his fans on their (our) toes. I'm looking forward to tonight's results show and I am going to try not to be nervous.

I was watching Eyewitness News after the show where they were interviewing the dancers. Apolo and Julianne told this hilarious story about how they had a heck of a time getting Julianne to slide through his legs due to the size of his thighs. And she's no bigger than a minute! I wonder how they solved this little problem. Butter? You just can't get reporters to ask the right questions dangit! I'm looking forward to this evening's result show. Not entirely nervous, but I might be biting my lip a bit more than usual. I think they're safe. In fact, I'm sure of it. We'll be smooching John or Billy goodbye tonight. Fingers and toes crossed. Dang you Len!
