Jay, that's a beautiful avi. You know, in ancient Greece, the Olympics were conducted with the athletes in the nude.
Of course, only men could watch.

Aww Jay, it's ok. Lots of people prefer to have bit more left to the imagination. I'll bet even the skinsuits make some folks blush. If it will make you feel better, Apolo looks very comfortable. Just focus on the tousled hair and impish grin!

That's true and you can't see anything. There is still plently to leave to the imagination. We've all seen his thigh before and we've seen him topless before!! LOL! And frankly, even though he's nude, I think it's a tasteful picure. It could be cheap & tacky, but it's really a beautiful picture of him.

Don't worry, Jay, you're entitled to your feelings. And thanks for trusting us enough to tell us even when you know some of us feel differently.
Sometimes some of us go a little further with some of our posts than some people feel comfortable with, so I imagine Apolo going as far as he did in that photo is upsetting, too.
I think it's interesting on the Ohnozone board that the ones who don't care for the picture mainly feel he looks too young to be posing nude, even though he's certainly old enough to make that decision himself.
I think that's exactly what Annie saw in Apolo. He has kind of a silly look on his face to be sitting there naked letting a stranger take pictures of him.
Goofy, but still sexy, Apolo. Yup, she gets him.

Aww, Jay. Don't feel bad about giving your opinion or at looking at the picture, either, when you get ready. People are assuming Apolo's totally in the buff, but the lighting is such that you really can't tell. (I guess that's between Apolo and the photographer. ) It adds to the mystery and speculation....did he or didn't he...??!! But there is actually nothing more revealed here than in that shot he did for GQ ( ) prior to the Olys....the one in which he only has on shorts and he's in a skating stance. Actually, there was more body area showing in that one than in this one. I'm guessing Annie L. thought Apolo would be the perfect model for a red bandana. This is an important cause and a serious campaign, so I doubt she had in mind to offend anyone. Anyway, most of the female photographers who have worked with Apolo since '02 have posed him rather provocatively, IMO. ( I"m thinking Rolling Stone shoot, People's Most Beautiful shoot, and the Cosmo shoot). Also JMHO, but I think they all sought to capture their own fantasies + what they perceived to be other women's fantasies about Apolo. Personally, I think the pic is hot, but I don't like that curl thingy they pulled down his cheek. It looks a bit contrived and a bit odd to me. All things considered, though, it was a huge deal to be asked to do this shoot and I'm happy for him.

LOL!! Just a few more thoughts added to the above!! Two of the most frequently-voiced fantasies about Apolo, gathered since '02 from private message boards and late-night chats:
1. Having Apolo all to yourself, wearing nothing but a bandana and a smile. 2. Having your hands all in his hair, doing with it as you will....lol!
Maybe Annie was anonymously in on some of those late-night chats, huh??

I have to say, I got excited when I first saw this pic but the more I look at it (strictly for research purposes I assure you) the more I have a few problems with it.
1. It looks kind of like kiddie porn. I know that Apolo is a 24-year-old grown man but he looks so young in this pic he could pass as a teenager. It gives me this creepy feeling that it was taken in some old pervert's basement. Like some old guy promised Apolo that he could "lick the lollipop" when they finished taking pictures.
2. Although I get the concept of the photo, it seems completely out of context with the rest of the pics. Everyone else is clothed and Apolo is sitting around buck naked. It just seems out of place and like a very strange juxtaposition. Don't really understand why this pic was chosen for this ad. Alone it would look differently.
3. I'm surprised that Apolo would do a nude photo shoot. Although, I suspect he had on a g-string that was airbrushed out. I have a hard time imagining Apolo walking around a photo shoot with his schlong hanging out. He's always seemed so shy and reserved it just seems out of character.
Having said all that, I think it is a beautiful photo just because it has a beautiful subject and I'm sure I will view it repeatedly (just for further research, honestly). I just feel a little creeped out and confused by it.

Have to admit, I also wondered why he was the only one in the nude. If they all had been, it would have been different, but the one nude of Apolo just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the ad. Had it been alone, or with other pictures of Apolo in different poses, it would have been OK. But frankly, with the ad the way it is, IMHO, I don't like it.
