Hi everyone! I feel sort of dumb asking this but could you guys tell me about who Shauni Davis is? I know that he is one of Apolo's best friends, but I don't know any thing else- he also is a speed skater and won 1000 in vancouver, - I get lost when people talk about him. Can you guys help me out?  just even the basics are perfect!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!! |

Shani and Apolo go back a long way. I believe that they met at the OTC. Shani used to be a short-tracker, and he still cross trains by doing short track. IIRC, Shani was an alternate for the 2002 Olympic ST team. But he found his best success by doing long track.
People who've met Shani or know Shani say he's very good-natured and personable. That hasn't always translated to his public image.
Apolo's autobiography, A Journey, discusses his early relatonship with Shani. If you haven't already read it, your local library might have a copy.

You can also ask to be friended by Shani on facebook. I've found his posts to be very open-hearted and fun loving. As Susie noted, he sometimes gets a bum rap by the US media. His FB entries paint a much more fair and accurate picture of the man I think and I'm glad I added his page.  |

He also has an interesting twitter feed as well. I agree that he gets a bum rap and it seems like Apolo is always defending him imo.
