I thought it would be interesting to start a thread- or a game, if you will- for peeps to post pics and articles of their hometown Olympic Athletes and hopefuls. Here at Tahoe, we're 'athlete rich' (LOL) so to speak, especially with skiers and snowboarders.
So I thought I'd start this off with the two most currently prominent athletes from the area.
And to help you play, here is the link to the recent USOC photoshoot from Getty Images of who the USOC thinks are the most likely athletes to make the Olympic Team.

For unwatermarked versions (but not as many athletes on it) here is the link to the photo gallery at Universal Sports

Another place for you to read up on Olympic athletes- teamusa.org

Don't see a familiar name or face? Hey, google searches are a beautiful thing...
Soooo, without further ado, here are two local hometown Olympians from the Lake Tahoe Region:
Daron Rahlves
Daron is from Truckee, CA, 15 minutes NW of Tahoe City. He formerly competed in the more traditional Alpine events and he was supposedly retiring after the last Olympics. That is, until he discoverd skicross. (Which sound a LOT like short track speedskating...except it's on skis - YIKES!)
Daron also has a very cool website (and Lawdy! The man ain't hurtin' for sponsors. Apolo should be so 'blessed'! LOL ...)

Julia Mancuso
Tahoe is also home to Julia Mancuso, also an alpine skier. The last I heard, she calls Squaw Valley home (Just a few minutes up the road from Tahoe City)
Julia also has a website:
www.juliamancuso.com/
So, I got you started, go play. (and for those of you in Southern Cal who think you have no Winter Olympic athletes, I have two words for you - Shawn White...)
