Clap your hands for Skater of the Month #11 ;D Tina Koenig!Tina made some big changes this year with her training. One of them was to move to Southern California to train with Coach Wilma Boomstra. Tina also changed how she trains. As with most things in life, sometimes you need to take a step backwards to go forward. Tina feels she is getting stronger as a skater, and is now working on technique to make her even better. Make sure you go to Tina's page on TRF to see more pictures and info! therockerfund.org/FORMgallery1.htm

I've gotten to know Tina quite well over this past skating season, and I can vouch for how hard she's working to try to support herself and to fund her skating.
She is a friendly, free-spirited young lady, and I'm sure that she would be very grateful for any help we can give her.

Tina wins her national title. With Lezleigh Jaworski and Amy Peterson. Notice how all the ladies are *ahem* holding their hands or other items in front of them. They do drug testing right after the winners finish the race. (As those of you who were part of the 'pee police' can attest to) Unfortunately, the skaters couldn't unload their 'tests' (giggle) before the awards ceremony, and they're not allowed to let anyone else touch them until they're handed over to 'the authorities' - hence, the awkward award photo. (...they might have been able to convince us it was a small glass of lemonade...)

Tina's Month is almost up. She works several jobs to keep up with expenses, and she has to find a place to live this month too. That's gotta jam her up with her training. Help her out if you can. Remember, no donation is too small, it adds up when many participate. Thanks to all who have donated to the skaters over the past year. You have helped out immensely.
