Happy New Year! The Rocker Fund is entering into 2009 with our 10th skater. Meet Chris McLaughlinAs we head into another year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank not only all the skaters who have taken this leap of faith and participated in this endeavor, but more importantly, to all of you who have donated to all these wonderful athletes. Many of you have come to competitions and met some of these skaters, and you know how hard they work and how exciting it is to watch them do what they do. As we coundown the final year heading into the 2010 Olympics, please remember all these wonderful athletes that aspire to such lofty goals. With economic times as hard as they are, I know it is increasingly difficult to find money for philanthropic endeavors. But hopefully you can find a few dollars in your budgets to send their way to help them fulfill their dreams. We would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You on behalf of the skaters for all your support during the past year. The Rocker Fund * As a reminder to the fans, this is something you do because you believe in the Olympic Spirit. Give with an open heart and an open hand as you would any charitable endeavor, expecting nothing in return.

I've met Chris through our SoCal club, but had a chance to sit and talk with him one on one for quite awhile at the US Championships, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity. He took the time to meet quite a few of our group before the racing started that day.
He's a remarkable young man, and is taking on the added time and financial burden to attend college while he trains, so let's help him out - good luck, Chris!

I just heard on NPR that Home Depot is ending their sponsorship of Olympic athletes. We may be sending $$ to Salt Lake City too! Go Chris, live your dream!
