Apolo has inspired me in many ways through his example and his accomplishments. He inspires me to stay focused, disciplined and fearless in the face of controversy and hardship. I'd love to here other stories about how Apolo has inspired both our members and guests alike.

Apolo has inspired me in many ways. I will share two with you. The first is losing weight. I have been "curvy" since I hit 13, and have tried half-heartedly to lose weight, nothing serious. Now, I am determined to lose weight, I have started a new diet (Sugar Busters) and have started to work out four times a week. In addition to my four time a week workouts, I also work at a daycare and am always running around chasing the little ones. I have already last 3 pounds! The second way Apolo has inspired me is in my school work. I am not known for great grades, although I am well educated in current events. I know my way around the political system and would love to get involved in politics someday. Well, I have kinda been slacking in school and not getting the best of grades. I am now going to be a senior and could have easily taken a bunch of easy credits and just blown my year off. But thankfully, I saw Apolo on the Olympics before I had to sechedual my classes. He just stirred something inside of me that made me want to better myself. Instead of taking 18 art classes, I took a variety of classes including cooking, government, psychology/sosciology, literature, law, bussiness, accounting and anatomy. I know that i am going to be a better person for taking on this huge work load, and I owe it all to Apolo for inspiring me to do so.

Apolo has inspired me to be more active in sports. To never stop working hard for wot I love. To not let pain, boredom or disappointment stop me from getting to where I want to be. I think that if he could do it, then I too could.

How Apolo inspired me is that you can reach your goal if you put you heart , soul and your all into that goal you set for yourself. And never give up on my hopes and dreams and to love what you do. I also use Apolo as an example of what I should be. Meaning that I should reach for my gold no matter what it is. He also inspire me to be me and just to love life and take what life has given my and use it for good. Apolo also helped me realized that I do have a talent and it doesn't have to be sports I'm good singing and that music is my passion! There is so much that I want to say but words alone can't describe how much Apolo means to me. Thank you Apolo for inspiring me!

I find Apolo truly inspirational. When I think of all he's accomplished at only 25 years of age, it motivates me to take stock of my own goals and move them forward. My place of work requires every staff member to complete a Portfolio whereby we reflect on our talents, skills and achievements, delve into who we are and where we're going. I completed my Portfolio two years ago and my theme centered around my journey to where I am today. In it, I'd included Apolo's quote from his autobiography about his journey -
I struggled and faced every challenge and test to get to the Olympics because I believe it is all part of my journey. Some people work toward getting rich, others want to be stronger, faster, smarter, better looking. If I have just one goal, then when I reach it my life will be over. My journey is always about getting to a place, then passing and surpassing it with the next trip. There's no ultimate destination - it's the journey that I love.
To this day, that quote has a prominent place on my desk. I can't tell you how many people have asked for a copy of it and wanted to know the story behind it. Many can't fathom so much profound wisdom having come from a 19 year old kid.
Some may have thought it a bit presumptuous for a 19 year old to write an autobiography in the first place, but one only has to look at his remarkable career to know that he deserves every accolade and distinction given to him. To write a book was only the next natural step. Apolo's an incredible role model in a world without many heroes to aspire to. He's mature, disciplined, driven, ethical, responsible, grounded, considerate and more than anything, incredibly grateful and honored for this gift that he's been given.

Lexi, thank you for sharing that! It still amazes me how people can have so profound an impact on the lives of others. A 19 year old skater can motivate someone in their career. A stranger on a bus stop can change someone's life forever. We see so much evidence of negative ways people touch the lives of others. Just earlier today I was reading MSN news, and after three headlines just had to stop. Everything was so bad, but what was worse was that each headline involved someone deliberately bringing harm to another. How someone can consciously hurt another person is as big a mystery to me as how someone can inspire another with no intention whatsoever. One hurts me because I'm a decent human being. The other gives me hope. Pardon me, I digress. I'm glad that you, Lexi and others have been so inspired.

Well just to keep it short as in short track only thing I won't be referencing short track. Apolo has inspired me to BELIEVE in people that I wouldn't otherwise think they were capable of accomplishing a goal that is or seems so far removed from what this person does on a daily basis. In essence when the new people are announced for DWTS very very soon and I look at them and evaluate them with my own logic and lack of at times I will remember what I thought when I first heard Apolo was going do be dancing ... can he really do it without making as A$$ of himself and in someways he did make an A$$ of himself but it was a GOOD A$$ ... you all know what I'm talking about ... all those nice shots we now have for our collection that we wouldn't have had if he hadn't been on the show ... HE'S A GOOD A$$. ;D

Apolo has inspired me in so many ways, but the most recent is I just finished by first round of swing dance lessons! I've wanted to do that for years but just never did. I was completely clueless and ridiculous looking, but yesterday we finished the last beginner class and actually danced! It's a blast and I'm going to take more lessons and just go crazy! (well, it'll be crazy for me!). And I love that there are ALL ages in there (late teens to probably late 80s) and you don't have to have a partner. Too much fun. I LOVE short track since 2002, but I figure I'll never be able to be a short track speed skater rocketing around that track at 40 mph, but I can certainly cut a rug. Now, if I could just get a chance to dance with Apolo for a few seconds! hehe!!
