he competes at WORLDS (he was the world champ last season ;D), but not AMERICAN CUPS (unless for some reason, he doesn't already have a bye). this time - like the beginning of most seasons - he technically has a bye. so he doesn't have to compete. you are correct!! I am sorry I was only half paying attention..LOL I was getting my TV fixed It's totally okay. I just figured I'd clarify that so that no one got confused. Yay for getting your TV fixed! Does that mean you can watch short track now? Oh wait. Fixing your TV wouldn't help...never mind.

off topic.... BBB I like your location!! that always strikes me! Thank you! ;D I love California, I really do. However, having visited Colorado...I think I'd trade the mediocre winters we have here for their cold. I know it's not that cold, but I loved it. I wore a freakin' hoodie the entire time I was there. It was awesome.

Can you still get tickets for American cup 1? STILL???!!!!!! ROFL How about YET? Lori just posted some info on trying to get them pre bought, but they didn't tell us if it's open seating for the VIP or assigned, since we would have to buy them in a block like we did for WC2 if we wanted to sit together if they're assigned. Sit tight a bit, Lori is 'MIA' at the moment. as for video....maybe we need to contact "Mr Phelps" for one of those cameras hidden in your reading glasses.... Mission Impossible you say? da-da... da-dee-da-da... duh-duh-da-da.....

bad news for Am Cup1 fans...looks like apolo does not have to compete since he's the world champ and automatically qualifies for the world cup team.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i found greg oly's email addy on the '08 Am Cup1 senior division entry form and i asked him if apolo had registered before the deadline.
his answer... "From what I hear he (Apolo) is the only one that does not have to skate to make the world cup team as he is World Champion." Greg
Greg On USS regs. for ST, it states that if a skater makes the top 3 in the 2008 World Champs then they receive a spot on the WC team. I originally thought that was up for debate last season because Apolo had to skate in for a spot for US Champs, but I realize that it was only for US Champs, not American Cups. So it stands as per the rest of the seasons. I'm begging to think Apolo will never skate an American Cup 1. LOL. But I can't remember if he ever did before the '02 Olys.
Still tho, even without Apolo, many of us have really broadened our depth of interest outside of Apolo.
There's going to be some great skating, including those who end up in Vancouver in 2010 and upp'n'comers; Rockers Fund folks, etc.
One thing I'm looking forward to this year is seeing Jeff, and if there are more instances of him knocking off Ao as he did for the first time last year.
Ya'll should have a ball !
Ya'll should have a ball ! Certainly we all signed up for AM Cup 1 with the knowledge that Apolo probably wouldn't be skating. We had other reasons for being there. Every skater The Rocker Fund has supported will be there. After putting our 'money where our mouths were' for the last several months, it was now time to put our 'mouths where our money is' and cheer these skaters on! Some of the skaters (and their parents) we haven't met, we've just e-mailed, so this was a GREAT opportunity to meet them face to face. While seeing Apolo skate is always a thrill, (and I can understand if you haven't been to a ST competition before, that you would want him included in that initial experience - ) -once you've been to a venue and met some of the other skaters (and in my case, cheered myself right out of a voice for a week for them! LOL) it's now a bit more personal and goes beyond Apolo. My one disappointment? Well, two (three if you count no Apolo, but we'll see him a few weeks after)....Jordan and Izy won't be there due to injury Get well soon, guys! Hopefully we'll see you on the flip side at Nationals. As for TRF, Please don't forget Dan for Skater of the Month. With OZ being down so long and all of us spending money on tickets and airfare this month, poor Dan Fiorenza has really gotten the short end of the stick. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated! Never think the amount is too small! (I have to confess, I would really like to see Dan taken care of, he is one of the few skaters who sent me ALL KINDS of info so I didn't have to spend my evenings googling his name looking for ANYTHING I could scrounge to create a bio! Thanks Dan!) Back to ST- hopefully we can get some 'covert' pics and videos! LOL It might just be of the skaters tie-ing their laces, but we'll do our best!
