In memory of fallen heros We will never forget those who lost their lives, the brave who lost their lives, the courageously who protect and to serve the country to this day. Please take a moment to pause in memory of those we lost and those whose lives were forever changed

I'll never forget that moment. The shock and hurt. They just showed Jack Buck making his speech on my b-day 7 years ago. It always brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for the thread Aofreak. And the amazing picture. I have since then took the time to think of fire-fighters and police-men in a whole new light. What they did that day. Just how much they risk to save others...

I live about 15 minutes for NYC in northern New Jersey.
Many of my friends worked at ground zero in the days after 9/11 and I have a special remembrance for Steve working so hard and tirelessly to help while mourning the loss of his best friend who worked for the NYFD.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives that day.
The history channel aired a show tonight called 102 which pieced together video images shot by people in NYC on 9/11. It was very difficult to watch but it is so worthwhile to see how the events affected everyone and to have it documented.
I remember leaving my office in West Orange early on 9/11 after the two towers collapsed. Most of the businesses in our area sent people home early (the phone systems were busy and traffic wasn't moving). A joined a large group of people up at South Mountain Reservation to view NYC from the hilltop. What a surreal sight looking at the city with the smoke and dust covering the area. The skyline still doesn't seem right with the towers missing.
My prayers tonight for all those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Teri's post reminded me of a music video that I saw on MTV shortly after 9-11 - I looked it up tonight and amazingly was able to find it. It was filmed at Ground Zero on the evening of 9-11 by CameraPlanet as a tribute to the emergency crews, and set to the music of 'Overcome' by the alternative rock group 'Live'. It still gives me chills and tears, 7 years later... please watch it, turn your volume up, and remember... video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5579657714596174528

Lori thank you for posting that link. I hadn't seen the video before. You're right, seven years later at the pictures from that day still make me cry.

I remember that song, it's quite beautiful, yet haunting, thanks for posting that. I think of that song every now and then.
