Katrina was downstairs going over some of the notes Dave and Suzie had prepared after talking with a few of the skaters. Katrina looked up over some paperwork as Apolo strolled through the door.
God, but I think he has gotten even better looking as he’s gotten older Katrina thought. She took a deep breath and shook her head trying to clear that thought out of her mind.
“Are you ready for lunch or do you need more time here,” Apolo asked as he sat on the table in front of her.
“No, it’s fine. I can take a break and come back to this later. Can we go over your training schedule while we eat so we can work on the plans for you personally?” Katrina said grabbing her purse and planner.
Apolo took her hand and started for the door. “Sure. Listen you haven’t been back here for awhile, why don’t we see if Shani and some of the gang are around. We can eat lunch with them and you can get reacquainted.”
“Apolo, I thought we would work during lunch,” Katrina said. “We have a lot to do and very little time and I’m still not sure exactly..”
Apolo interrupted her before she could finish “Katrina, relax. You need to spend time with some of the other skaters so they know we are all working together as a team. How about we go out for dinner tonight just the two of us.”
Katrina frowned, “Apolo we have work to do. We don’t have time to go out to dinner.”
“It will be a working dinner. We will have less distractions away from everyone else and we can really talk about a plan of action and the future,” Apolo said steering her through the doors to the dining room. I’ll pick you up at your hotel at 7:30, the restaurant isn’t far and you’ll have to eat anyway,” Apolo said smiling.
Several other skaters spotted them and waved them over. Lunch went quickly with everyone having a great time catching up, telling old stories and teasing one another. When they were almost finished Apolo leaned over and whispered to Katrina that he had an afternoon practice and would see her later for dinner. Then he quickly walked away.
Katrina couldn’t do much work on plans for Apolo without having discussed the direction he wanted to take, so she went to help Dave and Suzie.

Back at the hotel Katrina was still wondering how she let herself be maneuvered into going out to dinner. How was she supposed to keep this on a professional level when her stomach flip-flopped every time Apolo looked into her eyes?
And now she was standing here worrying about what to wear. “I must be mad,” Katrina said out loud.
She didn’t know where they were going but figured Apolo would pick somewhere nice. Her options were limited being as she packed for only a few days. She decided on the short dark brown skirt from one of her suits and paired it with a deep gold wrap top. Heels and some extra jewelry and she should look good enough for anywhere.
Even though she knew this wasn’t a good idea and she shouldn’t be worrying about looking good, she couldn’t help it. Deep down she still wanted Apolo to look at her as he used to, like she was the only thing that mattered in the world.
God, it’s happening all over again Katrina realized. That thought braced her resolve. She knew she still loved him and probably always would but that wasn’t enough. She was devastated after Turino and she wasn’t about to let that happen again.
Katrina quickly reapplied her makeup and brushed out her long dark hair. She appraised herself in the mirror. The person looking back at her was older than the one who became involved with Apolo. Older and wiser she hoped.
She still had some time before Apolo showed up and decided it would be better if she went downstairs and met him in the lobby. Katrina grabbed her planner, a notebook and her purse and headed out.
It will be fine, Katrina thought trying to reassure herself. It’s just business.
