Seriously, I feel like I just read his diary.
Or do men have "journals"? Either way:
Dear Diary,
It's ME...Apolo Ohno...etc, etc, etc.

This just in... A statement from Apolo on his website. What is new with Apolo? "As most of you know my table is very full right now. Between decisions on whether I will try to compete in the 2010 games or attend as a spokesperson for the Olympic Movement and short track speed skating. Two spectacular Olympic Games, Tied, having the most Olympic Medals ever won by an American male athlete (5 - 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze), just turned 24 and I am in a sport that is so crazy that if you ran the race again you would most likely have a different winner each time. I have been lucky enough to accomplish every single thing that I could have possible imagined in the Olympic dream and within my sport. Obviously there is a lure to compete in the 2010 games because Vancouver is so close to Seattle and it is literally in our "backyard". With just one more medal I could surpass that "5 mark". Of course that is NOT why I skate but also the opportunity to go to a 3rd games as something much bigger than a competitor reaching for the podium. An Ambassador of the Olympic Ideals, defining winning as not just reaching the top spot but embracing the passion and beauty of the Olympics - something I am very interested in. Also to lead a young US Short Track team to a possible Gold medal. To show them and help them reach their goals and dreams as I have. Vancouver is just 4 years away but to an athlete that could be a lifetime especially in a sport as dangerous as mine. Obviously the Entertainment World fascinates me because it is exciting, fast paced and a huge challenge. Learning to act or connecting with people on television is something that I AM interested in and if my path is meant to follow that road it will be wonderful. Speaking engagements, sponsorships, personal appearances, charity events, television and film opportunities, all play a role in my life. With the current disaster of our NGB and the current state it is disappointing to know that our Olympic skaters don't have sufficient funding to even pay for a top tier level coach. But that is a whole different story. So YES, Apolo Ohno has some huge decisions on his plate. School is an issue, social life, business opportunities, moving on, etc. I still love the Olympic Dream and spirit. I still love Short Track Speed skating. Either way I will be involved in this sport one way or the other (and yes - maybe even have my skates with me)." -- Apolo I wonder who wrote that (or edited it) cause the style isn't his usual. More than likely he told April what he wanted to say and she typed it up. She makes all kinds of errors all the time. Apolo is almost always very well spoken. In my opinion any way.

I didn't mean it wasn't well spoken, just different from his usual writing style or whoever's style it is that writes the responses to the questions. I don't mind the stream of consciousness, take lots of liberty with punctuation type style either. I'm kinda partial to that myself. I shoulda kept my thought to myself though. God it must be irritating when every word out of your mouth is over analyzed and the most bizarre meanings put on things.

In case any of you are wondering about the term NGB (as I was), here's some information The National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport in the U.S. is U.S. Speedskating. The NGB organizes competitions, selects teams for international competition, sets racing rules, trains coaches, provides programs to develop skaters such as camps and clinics, and helps promote the sport by providing resources to clubs. U.S. Speedskating is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) which governs Olympic and amateur sport in the U.S., and the International Skating Union (ISU) which governs figure skating and speedskating in the world. If Apolo isn't going to skate, he would be great on the NGB. He could do that and pursue other things at the same time.

I have figured out that she is the person who does Apolo's website, but due to the familiarity with which I have seen people refer to her, I am wondering if I am should know who she is. Is she on this forum or what?

i don't think see's a member Good...then I can say this. As an amateur web designer, I will say that Apolo's official website has been weighed in the balance and found severely lacking. Or to put it more simply, it sucks. I have felt this way since the first time I saw it. He really needs to get someone who knows what they are doing to do it for him. Maybe me! ;D

Yeah, as far as websites go, it does suck. It doesnt even look like his style of site (it should be edgier, in my opinion). I like that he has a flash intro, but put some Fireworks into it and make it snazzy. If you want to get rich sponsors, you have to look expensive and worth the money. It still needs to be easy to navigate for the kiddos, but it needs something more visual for the rest of us. And if nothing else, update it! He still has his baby fat in his intro! As far as the third person thing goes, I hope to Buddha that he does not become one of those athletes like Shaq who refers to himself in the third person.
