Oh, no! and she was my #1 pic! www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27021322/Injury ends Misty May-Treanor’s ‘Dancing’ Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist will require surgeryAccess Hollywood updated 2:49 p.m. ET, Sat., Oct. 4, 2008 Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will leave “Dancing With the Stars” after suffering an injury, Access Hollywood has learned. A source close to the show revealed to Access that the volleyball star is out of the competition and will require surgery. Though the competition was just two weeks old, May-Treanor had already stepped out as a “Dancing” star on the rise. She consistently received 21 points out of 30 for the host of dances she performed with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. And just last week, May-Treanor received some of her highest praise from the judges after performing an intense Paso Doble with Chmerkovskiy. “Compared to what we (last) saw I want to thank you because that is the kind of determination we need,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said on Monday’s show, before turning her attention to Maks. “You gave her one of the most ambitious routines in week two, what are you doing?” And judge Bruno Tonioli also had high praise for May-Treanor. “It is mighty Xena The Warrior Princess,” he raved, a reference to how Misty tackled the dance floor in her black costume. “I love your energy, I love what you put into it. You forget the finesse — you put so much power (that) sometimes you stumble a little bit. But you do a good job.” Backstage, following their performance, May-Treanor told “Dancing” host Samantha Harris, she had been working extremely hard in rehearsals to conquer the ballroom. “I was frustrated more in myself (during the dance),” she said. “He wants to see the best in me and I want the best out of me.” May-Treanor and Chmerkovskiy were slated to dance the jive in next week’s competition. The Olympic champ had pulled double duty in recent weeks, competing on the AVP volleyball tour and training for “Dancing.” Just two weeks ago, she and partner Kerri Walsh won the $1 million AVP Crocs Cup Shootout in Manhattan Beach, following their earlier victory on Sept. 14 at the AVP Crocs Tour in San Francisco.

Exerpt from tvwatch.people.com/2008/10/04/dwtss-misty-may-treanor-injured/The Olympic gold medalist, partnered on DWTS with pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, told PEOPLE last month that the biggest challenge for her was dancing in high heels. “When I wear shoes it’s usually Vans or flats,” said May-Treanor, 31. “The heels are so hard to walk in, let alone dance.” =================== Wondering if this was the cause?

Aw, poor Misty! I don't want her to go but I would never encourage an athlete to gamble with an injury. I'll bet the shoes played a part, particularly because she isn't used to them. She was going to be one to watch gradually improve, endear herself to the viewing audience and quietly overtake her competition while they're keeping their eyes on other potential threats. Sound familiar?

I knew I wouldn't like Lacey as soon as I first saw her dance. Has she ever danced ballroom/latin? Latin, yes, to some degree. West Coast Swing falls into Latin, I belive... Ballroom? I don't think she's ever competed in ballroom (in sanctioned competitions I mean. Not talking about other TV shows...) I'm thinking if I can pick out her lack of technique (frame issues on the quickstep, for example) then she hasn't had serious training in ballroom either...

I really wanted to see if she could loosen up and get that graceful flow going to match her power and attack! Not a happy development...

Poor Misty, she injured her leg so bad that her and Maks are out I doubt anyone will go home tomorrow due to Misty's departure. I know Cloris is now there for humor, but her dance with Corky was so tacky(when she was on the floor with him) I was in shock. And i know that the football player is good, and i dont mean to be rude but i know Julianne and Cody did better than him and kim . He danced with Kim like if his shirt was about to bust if he moved any faster.Other than that all dancers did great.I'm not a fan of Lance Bass's partner, not sure what it is but i cant click with her.And Brook was awesome. When she dances ,it looks like shes dancing on air

judges scores:
Brooke & Derek 28 Warren & Kym 25 Maurice & Cheryl 24 Lance & Lacey 22 Toni & Alec 22 Cody & Julianne 21 Susan & Tony 21 Rocco & Karina 20 Cloris & Corky 16 thumbs down
to expand on what aofreak said about cloris/corky's jive...it was atrocious, borderlining on crude. 3-3-3 would've been a fair score for them this week. if any other couple attempted their routine, len would've chewed them out....they are making a mockery of the show .
good part...brooke/derek, by far the best performance of the season...what a beautifully executed routine...he makes her look like she's floating on the dance floor...i love derek's choreography (did i say that before? )
warren/kym...a solid 2nd place for me...he is VERY light on his feet, has great musicality and can really get into the role that's given to him week after week.
like the judging indicates, the rest of them are all still quite bunched up together...no clear separation of ability showing yet.
now about misty may...a ruptured achilles tendon is a very serious injury. her being an olympic athlete, i have no doubt she'll bounce back from this, stronger than ever. imo, i think she should've worn low heels because after 2 months of training/dancing in high heels, dancing in tennis shoes really puts alot of pressure on her achilles...it's like wearing those old earthshoes (negative sole/heel)...i am soooooo bummed out that mm & m are out of the competition...omg! maks is gone

Cloris MUST go NOW! Her dance last night was a complete joke! Too bad there probably won't be an elimination tonight. It's sad that Misty has to leave the competition so soon. I'm also upset to see some of my favorite pro dancers leaving this early ... first Edyta, then Mark, now Maks! Brooke & Derek are by far the best couple. They're awesome! I thought Cody & Julianne were great last night, but the judges didn't seem to like it that much. Warren & Kym are a lot of fun to watch. I keep hoping that Rocco will show some improvement soon. I'm still not very impressed with Susan. I don't know why, but I expected her to be a lot better.

Just curious as to why people are saying that there might not be an elimination tonight?
Will be looking on the internet to see Cloris's dance! I sense a general distate from ya'll....
