I have opened a new thread for discussion of Vancouver BC & the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. Quoted below are some posts of information originally shared by Kirkland in the general forum.

I have taken this thread way off topic. I wonder if there is anyway the moderator could transfer my past three posts to a new link titled "Visit Vancouver"

Horseshoe Bay, the departure location for the Olympic ferry above, is a must visit...the scenery is heavenly!!! The drive north towards Whistler along the winding road along the fjord of Howe Sound provides one of the prettiest vistas anywhere on earth. Go for lunch to Horshoe Bay...even if you have to take a cab or bus (it is within the greater Vancouver vicinity- not that far). Whatever the weather, the mood is magical. The first time I visited there in 1979 I purchased a watercolor of Horseshoe Bay. I will never forget the person who rang up my purchase asked me where I was from. When I told him Washington DC, he said "welcome to heaven", which pretty much sums it up. That sweet little hamlet is not fancy, there is no hotel (just one small old motel) but it is a very special spot. Inhale the salt air and drink in the scenery - you will feel renewed. I kept that watercolor on my wall until I finally made the move to the Pacific Northwest.
I hope some of you guys checked out the Vancouver links I posted above.
Check out this link for BC Ferries/Horshoe Bay. Then click the link for Bowen Island.

Then Google "Horshoe Bay" and click on Images. There are tons.
Live webcam links of Vancouver. Keep in mind that these are live and change with the weather and time of day.

I don't know how to post photos, but these links provide some incredible pictures of/from Grouse Mountain. Google Grouse Mountain Images and there are lots of images.

Lily, that sounds like an interesting trip from Bellingham to Alaska with stateroom. Is there a web link for it?
