I just had a thought: In remembering the Olympics, the Koreans definitely had an edge because whenever two of them competed in the final, they could basically team skate. One would block and the other would get the gold. Question #1: How fair do you think that is, and Question #2: If another American skater who equaled or nearly equaled Apolo in ability, do you think the coaches would encourage them to team skate that way? #3: Do you think Apolo would do it or is he too independent? It's something that really intrigues me...

Q1: well, team skating is illegal. So it's not fair at all!! Q2: I don't think the coaches encourage them....i mean even if the coaches did, then i think APolo would say something about that. Q3: I think Apolo will feel more confident that he has one of his teammates out there....you know that feeling that it's not just him from the US. But i think in the individual races, it's every skater for himself.

I think, on a political stage, him being an American, could never get away with it. Americans have to be perfect compared to other countries to win, because I think we are often despised. And I also think it's a disgrace that the Koreans have to gang up on Apolo. More than once have I seen when they blck him, and one will take Apolo and himself out of the race, just so they can see their flag over the winners podium. I mean no disrespect to people who are from other countries who come on here to talk about Apolo. I just think we struggle alot in the world events arena because of prejudiceness towards us.

yup i agree warhorse. Apolo has said that he likes competing Nationals rather than International. I guess competing against your own teammates that are from the same country is much easier.
And the team skating issue is still abig issue...i mean the officials either can't see what the other athlete is doing or they're just worried that they'll make a "bad call'!! UGH! i hate that

It was speculated big time after the 500, when Apolo was able to win it without the two Koreans to cause trouble. But for some strange reason, when the one Korean fell in his prep race, I felt bad. Does that make sense?

Hmmm...warhorse do you mean the 500m in the Olympics, 'cuz i thought only one Korean was in the final Ahn Hyun-Soo...and the Lee Ho-SUk(Spelling?) fell in his semi-final. Yeah, that was sad...he looks so disappointed. oh well....

The thing is, I dont know how they do things in Korea. I know in some countries, when they have athletes representing them, and they do badly, are punished cruelly. So, I just wondered, if Lee Ho Suk, is that's his name, falling in the semi spoiled possible plans for Han to won another gold, could he have been punished for it somehow. I dunno, like i said, I'm just wondering.

you know....IDK either, but there was this article posted in OZ about how the Korean coaches/ST organization is very strict. Like i heard that this girl fell and sprained her ankle, but the coache still made her skate. I mean that's just too hard core and they don't really care for the skater, just winning for the country. (PLz...anyone, don't get offened or anything like that, i don't mean to target Korean in general. Just what i heard.)
And I think Lee Ho-suk was pretty upset and i bet so was his coaches. When they did the press congerence for the 1000m, both Ahn and Lee said that they were skating for themselves and Lee said he wanted to win the race.....

I heard hideous things happening to the Germans under Hitler. They would have their licves threatened if they lost the gold. I think that is one of the reasons for a long time, Germany was such an outstanding group of athletes to beat, in all venues. They had alot more to loose than just their pride.

yeah your right....well IDK a lot about Germany and their athletes, but i bet it's more harder on them. It sux that athletes can't enjoy what their doing...like they have to worry about people and coaches....

Oh, there's pros and cons in everything we do, that's the facts of life. There is always a balance of such things. It keeps the more saner ones straight, but appreciative of the things we achieve and accomplish. The insane ones you will notice are consumed by mostly one side of the balance, which is a disastrous ground to stand on.
