Allen Iverson won't opt out of his contract with the Denver Nuggets, his agent told The Rocky Mountain News. Iverson
"Things have gone well for him [in Denver]," agent Leon Rose was quoted as saying of Iverson, who is due to make $20.84 million next year. 'He's looking forward to taking the team [further]."
Iverson had a contract that would have left him the option of opting out of his deal after the season and becoming a free agent.
Instead, he will be with the Nuggets in their bid to qualify for the playoffs for the third time in his first three seasons.
Rose said Iverson was excited about the team's prospects and was looking forward to finishing his career in Denver.
Iverson, 33, was traded to Denver from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2006 in a nasty separation with the team that made him the No. 1 overall draft pick and a worldwide superstar.
Iverson ranked third in the league in scoring in 2007-08, with 26.4 points per game.

Representatives for Carmelo Anthony will meet with Denver Nuggets management on Monday to discuss the possibility of a trade, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Anthony is expected to attend the meeting, though his presence is not a certainty. His agent, Calvin Andrews, could not be reached for comment. The meeting is being initiated by Anthony, who has grown tired of hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors. His desire is to stay in Denver and he wants assurances from the Nuggets that they will not trade him. Anthony's party expects to get those assurances on Monday, according to the sources. If the Nuggets don't commit to building around Anthony -- and instead demonstrate a willingness to trade him -- he will ask to be moved. Believing he will remain with the Nuggets, Anthony has not put together a list of teams he wants to be traded to. Speculation about a deal involving Anthony began in May when reports surfaced that New Jersey had contacted Denver about a trade for the two-time All-Star forward. While the likelihood of a trade to the Nets was never high, executives around the league insisted that Nuggets coach George Karl was indeed ready to trade Anthony. Denver denied that it was looking to trade Anthony, but the rumors have persisted. Detroit recently offered Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince for Anthony, but the Nuggets weren't interested. Denver countered with an offer of Allen Iverson or a package built around Marcus Camby, but the Pistons are only interested in Anthony. Executives with other teams say Denver's management group is divided over Anthony's place with the team. They say Karl wants to trade him, but that general manager Mark Warkentien and club advisor Bret Bearup are against the move. Anthony, 24, averaged 25.7 points and a career-high 7.4 rebounds last season but was unable to get the Nuggets out of the first round of the playoffs for the fifth straight season. Anthony struggled badly in this year's playoffs, averaging 22.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting in a sweep by the Los Angeles Lakers. Chris Broussard covers the NBA for ESPN The Magazine. ******************************************** when i first read the bottom line on espn, i was like melo wants to be traded? read this, and it looks like the opposite. on a different note, cards win again. troy glaus hit a slam.

I really like Melo, and I first thought that he wanted to be traded out. He's a good player, I wouldn't want to trade my top two players, that's just crazy. But some people are crazy like that... Memphis lost their game. Bummer.

Trade talk...grrr. There was nothing on Jamal Mayers, than bam, he's gone. Then there's Cards fans wanting to trade Colby, that's crazy talk. They did a trade like that and it bit 'em in the booty too. They traded Dan Haren for Mark Mulder, I've been a Mulder fan for a while, but Dan has been to the all-star, hardly injured, and is doing great. Mulder has had surgeries at least twice now. Guess who got a better deal in the long run, not The Cards, but The A's. sorry to go on about it. *ooppss* Memphis plays again tomorrow. and they make up that one game in August.

speaking of sports I just googled the results for the us gymnastics olympic trials and both the Hamm brothers made the team in spite of dealing with injuries.Paul made the team thru a petition because he broke his hand during the US champs on May 22 and Morgan finished 4 on most apparatus and second on one giving him a place on the team.I can't wait to watch the olympics.
