Hi everyone, it's time for June's Skater of the MonthMeet Anthony BarthellMany of us who attended WC 6 had the pleasure of meeting Anthony, as he not only set up our hotel reservations at the Hilton Garden, but checked us all in as well. (...and a friendlier, nicer guy you will never meet!) More importantly, Anthony has helped us out tremendously with a lot of information we needed to set up The Rocker Fund, and he always answered my 'mega e-mails from hell' with humor and graciousness. Needless to say, Lori and I have a tremendous amount of gratitude and affection for Anthony. We hope you will too, and you are moved to send a donation to help Anthony achieve his skating goals. On a different note, - don't ya just LOVE the hamster?

Thank you mtnme! Anthony seems really cool! Holy moley, at first I thought that was some mini-kitty not a hampster in the couch photo! LOL LOL LOL! Wouldn't want to cross Homey, so get donating peeps! I've heard nothing but good things about Anthony, so I'll try to "PIF" to him asap! Thanks again! And Good Luck Anthony...with all of your goals and pursuits! Hope you've been enjoying UT.

Bumpin' the 'bro' until Lindsey has a chance to sticky the thread. We'll be giving you an update on the total donations to date for The Rocker Fund once I hear back from all the participants. Remember, airfare has gone up outrageously, and it makes it even tougher for the skaters to come up with the funds just to GET to the competitions, let alone compete. Anything you send will help, no matter how small the donation. The skaters do appreciate your support.

I'm glad we finally got an address for Anthony. I'm sure that everyone that has met him would agree that he is really a great guy.
Anthony, I will get the check in the mail tomorrow! Good luck to you in the upcoming competitions.

My first knowledge of Anthony was as a gracious and helpful guy in our Yahoo trip-planning group for Nationals. Jordan's mom introduced him to me later that weekend as 'the nicest guy you'll ever meet', and I'd agree - at that time I had no idea how wonderful he had already been to those in our group who were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, nor how helpful he would ultimately be to The Rocker Fund.
Anthony, it has been a joy to watch you skate, both 'live' and online, and I'm thrilled that you've joined forces with us - the best of luck to you in all your Short Track goals! We'll be cheering for you every step of the way!

Thanks mtnme, Anthony sounds like a nice guy. I hope that I can help if I can...the cost of everything has gone up.

I heard from Anthony, and he thought all of your remarks about the hamster were hilarious! (Homie is getting more attention than HE is! LOL) Anthony works at the Hilton Garden Inn, and now just took on yet another job to pay for expenses. YIKES! My question..... When does he find time to train?Like Barry Winslow, Anthony needs new boots and blades this season. And you remember what those cost, right? Yowza! Here is a picture of Anthony that aaosmts recently took at SLC. (originally posted on the 'My trip to SLC' thread. I love her name for the picture- "The Rocker Fund Guy" - LOL) 'The Rocker Fund Guy' is training hard. Please be generous and help him get those new skates. Remember, no amount is too small, it all adds up.

Thanks, sak755, debbief, and everyone else! I've just gotten my own check off - 'been out of town a lot over the past month.
I just want to remind everyone that this is a slow time of the year for GA and OZ, so our summer 'Skaters of the Month' may not have as much opportunity for people to see their information as those who are featured during 'the season'.
Homie the Hamster has a big appetite - I'll bet he goes through a pit bull every month, and we all know how expensive ST skating is. Anthony has been a good friend to all the fans, so let's keep showin' him some luv so he can pursue his ST goals!

Hi everyone, The Rocker Funds re-worked site is finally up. You can use the link below. EDIT: If you already had the site bookmarked, it will forward to this address: therockerfund.org/Anthony is still currently Skater of the Month for June. Please check out his section on the new site, as well as the rest of the site.

mmm, I was just re-reading Anthony's info, and thought it might not be entirely clear. I hope you have all made your checks out directly to Anthony, you are just MAILING his donation to the Oval for Matt to give to Anthony. Otherwise, you just made a donation to the Oval, as they won't be 'handleing' his money other than to pass on Anthony's mail to him. I hope I didn't mess anyone up, least of all Anthony.

Hey everyone...I don't post much here but I hope to start posting more now that school's out for summer!
I skate with the Northern California Speedskating Association (NCSA) in San Jose, and today we had ANTHONY BARTHELL skate with us. He was there with a friend and he skated with us. He was a really nice guy and he helped me out with some stuff and told some pretty cool stories of times at the Oval. I think he came to check us out because we have a former Korean National team member (Jason Kim...he was on the 1992 Relay team as an alternate) coaching us. Anthony was an awesome skater, he pretty much glides out there like Apolo. I've been skating for about a year and it was cool to get to skate with a National skater to see how much I progressed.
Anyways...just thought I'd let you guys know about skating with Anthony! It was pretty cool and definitely a memorable experience!

Wow, Karen, that's really cool - thanks for telling us! He just seems like the nicest guy, and we're all gonna be cheering ourselves hoarse for him this season.
Good luck to you, too! Come around more often - you can give us all a very unique perspective...

Thanks Karen for sharing your experience with Anthony. It's so great you got to skate with him. What a wonderful memory. He really is the nicest guy, isn't he? We're so excited for you and I'm sure he gave you some great advice. I guess that explains why he hasn't cashed my check yet! LOL He isn't in SLC!
