okay we took him in for a vet check yesterday and he is healthy other than the fact that he is overweight he weighs 13.5 lbs. They want me to switch his food to Purina One Special Care indoor cat.Nat and I will do those errands today.I have to get him a scratching pole too as we just got new furniture.Hopefully it won't be too expensive but I will check around. He doesn't appear to like his food or maybe he is just having a hard time to all the new things in his life so do I just go ahead switch his food now or wait? I am still getting used to this little guy that has stolen my heart.i will post a pic in a minute.

I think you should keep the old food just in case the cat doesn't like the new food. I would listen to your vet and change the food so the cat gets heathier. And enjoy your little one. I'll be waiting for the cute pic.

hi...always checking in and rare posting. had to add my two cents on this one. your cat is adorable! i have eight cats (all indoor). five are black. ages 15 and a half down to a year and a half. one is one phenobarbitol for seizures, one was nuetered too young (before adoption) and has no voice!. three are on weight management diet food. one a special food as of crystals in his urine. stick with what the vet says. perhaps you can mix the food for awhile. cats are strong willed but, with patience, can be trained. mine now eat their seperate food in their own spots. i don;t know who is trained....me or the cats! good luck!

It's always good to hear new stories of cats. Mine I got when she was 9 and lasted til 19. She was so skinny but boy could she jump! lol. Melody, her name was. She didn't really like us that much but we took care of her and I swear I can still hear her purring for food. Her spirit much have not left. Ah, I forgot, sorry Daisy! I like that name.

I am still not used to opening up a cupboard and finding a little furry body in there I left my pantry cupboard open and he climbed in and must have fallen asleep back there anyways it is one of those lazy susan things and he hightailed it out of there.

My mom used to sit in this chair and Melody would whoosh her tail in her face cause she took the cats chair. Melody was p'od, if you know what I mean.

i love jack daniels. he's a beauty. i read that you combine the two foods for a two week period of time more of their old, less of the new, then backwards until they get used to the new. that's if you want to switch. some cats are just 'husky' and are healthy. and cats who are fixed are bigger. i have seven cats. two are 'my' babies. if one is sleeping with me, the other one gets jealous. it's cute, but annoying but i love both miracle and bella the same. bella is the tuxedo cat. black with white. miracle has the extra toes. she has some big feet.
