AAOGirl, I know how you feel. My freshman year, I ran for Class President, and lost to a bunch of preps. Do not take it personally...Popular Kids are going to get all their little "slaves" to vote for them...it isn't a honest election. I am sure that you would have made a great pres! I know how it is for all the rich popular kids to get everything, one kid in my school gets a new Cadalac SUV every year, and doesn't have to work for anything and yeah. The popular rich kids are going to be the ones working at McDonalds flippin burgers the rest of their lives because they don't know how to act in society without someone there to guide them and their friends to kiss the ground they walk on. In my school, the better off your parents are, the more powerful you are. I could care less what ANYONE thinks...if someone thinks that they are better than me because they have more money or because daddy could buy the town, they can kiss somewhere where the sun don't shine...and I am not talking about the dark side of the moon either. AAOGirl, just by running, you showed those good for nothing rich kids that you are a prominent part of your school, you WILL be heard and you are not going to back off anytime soon! YOU GO GIRL!

Awww AAOgirl im so srry i dont want to sound offensive bur ur school social seen sucks, some with u apolosangel if rich kids run ur school thats ridiculcouls. u guys made me realize how good i have it, i go to a liberal Hs in the richest county in America, where Sean Penn's daughter attend and same with George Lucas' daughter. you would think they'd be the most popular but they arnt even though there by far the richest or even famous. theres no popular kids at my school, some freshman tried to get a cheerleading team and the whole school shot it down because its ridiculous to have girls in skimpy outfits just jumping up and down for no reason other than because its tradtion. Everyone at my school is smart and if ur not people find that ridiculous if u dont even try and learn something
but back to AAO's delema so what if those a*&holes didnt vote for u because if u are the most qualified which u are and they didnt vote for you its their loss not only because ur such a chill person from what i can tell, but its their school year thats gona suck if someone who doesnt noe how to run the school is doing it just because they're popular, nothing is going to get accomplished. Ur better than them and if they peacked in HS than i have pity for them
Hold your head up high dont let anybody thing ur not amazing because every person is Cry all you want because its good for the Soul and just noe that u did ur best and u didnt let anybody down by doing so, and if u hadnt run i would think u let urself down if it was one of ur goals and you didnt even try. trying is all we can hope for in a world built on being unfair and unjust

AAOgirl. Hope you are feelin' better today. Sorry I was away from the board and missed the opportunity to comfort you with all the rest. I wanna share a story with you that might give you some perspective, being that I am outta high school just a few years... I also ran for a class president position in high school and I put everything into that campaign. I had posters up all over the school, which I made by hand. I put together a little team to hand out flyers. We made stickers, buttons, you name it. I also ran against a couple of kids who were wealthy and popular and a little bubbly between the ears, if you know what I mean. I was the underdog band geek, from working class parents who lived on the wrong side of the tracks. I worked so hard on my speech which I gave in front of the whole school. The next day, I lost the election to the popular guy. I was crushed and so were my supporters, but I moved on. I graduated from highschool near the top of my class. I earned a scholarship to a major university. I transfered to a respected conservatory. I graduated with honors. I landed an amazing job, and got engaged to one of the most amazing and HOTTEST guys on the planet (later I married him and he is still amazing and HOT). At my highschool reunion, several years later, I saw the rich, popular guy. He had gone into his father's business (a pizzaria) and was still wealthy, but he never left our little hometown, had been married and divorced after making a couple of beautiful but confused kids, he had gained easily 40-50 pounds and he was losing his hair. Our class president... Ouch! The road can take many twists and turns along the way, but if you always do your best and follow your heart and try not to hurt good people along the way, you'll end up ahead in the end.

One of my favorite song writers, Pete Townshend once wrote a song that is so fitting of things such as this. I love this man and what he writes. Sometimes, he sees inside my head, I kid you not.

Thank you so much again Today was a sad day going to school I thanked everyone who voted for me and telling them how sorry I'm for losing and letting them down. As I told them that I couldn't help but shed a little tear. I'm over it but it still hurts apart of me. I could have done something great to my school. Sincerely AAOGirl

And you still can AAO! Okay so you didn't win class president. There's Student Council and then there are tons of organizations that you can become part of and maybe in a year, you can have a leadership role. Or maybe when school starts up again in the Fall, you can join a committee and have a leadership role in that, like a co-chair or maybe in a chair, girl cheer up Your life is just beginning

Crims, you got it right! So many ways to contribute in a leadership role. AAOgirl, don't give on yourself. That's the only true failure.
