How I became an Apolo fan is kind of weird. I always watched the winter olympics for the figure skating, but my boyfriend at the time is a huge winter olympics fan, epsecially anything to do with the ice (Except for figure skating, he said that was too gay!)
Well, he was telling me about all the competitors in speed skating events, when he pointed out Apolo. My BF was a huge fan basically because he himself is a half Japanese, half Italian. His fandom kind of rubbed off on me, so I became somewhat of a fan, however, I did not go out of my way back then to find everything out about him. I liked him in the sense as an Olympic athlete, not as some boy toy.
Well, my boyfriend at the time had joined the Army and we parted ways. I sure hope he's ok though, because last I heard, he was in Iraq, but with this Olympics coming around, for some strange reason, I found a new appreciation for Apolo. I also find Apolo, along with Joey Cheek, to be the first honest faces I have seen on the news papers in a long, long time, and that appeal in itself is enough to garnish my respect.
Don't know if this makes sense, or if others may possibly relate, but here's my two sense on how I became an Apolo fan!

I was not sure how to respond to this poll but I ended up saying Torino 2006. I watched him at the 2002 Olympics and appreciated his skill and thought he was a nice person but I would not say I was truly a fan until these Olympics.

You have to be a member to vote in a poll (it's really easy to sign up!). Once you're logged in, you can click the radio buttons that show up to the left of each choice. You can only vote once, though...
We'd love to have you as a member, ApolosGal!

apolo caught my attention at the Torino Olympics cuz of his name Ohno which i thought was funny. haha...plus his trademark bandana and soul patch made it very easy for me to spot him and the commentators constantly mention of him. after that day's races i just liked and supported him! ahhh he's soooo cute.....
