I was wondering if anyone had any photos of them with Apolo, like fan encounter or meeting him. I know it was a World Cup and probably a lot harder to approach him, *which I totally understand* just wondering if there were any lol.

No one got to meet Apolo this time that I know of. There were just too many people there to do a meet and greet at the oval. I think I heard Susie got to talk to him briefly, but you'll have to ask her. We did see him jogging around the track when we were going to our seats. One person got to ride the elevator with him at the hotel (he was texting away...). Just little snippets here and there. If you want the intimacy of meeting the skaters, Nationals are your best bet. For sheer excitement, go to a world cup. Two totally different experiences, both fun and worthwhile. It's easy to get hooked on the sport watching it, and seeing it on TV doesn't truly do it justice. The speeds and strategy are amazing, and when the skaters hit that wall, the sound of the slam really gives you an idea of just how fast they're going and how dangerous it can be at times. This is not a sport for the faint of heart.  |

Apolostarr... for me, I saw him around a couple times and he was either jogging around the track or talking to his dad, etc. at the World Cup...so I didn't want to feel invasive or bother him at all. There were times I probably could've just asked or even said "hi" and it would've been okay...but no, I never met him. I did howeve smile at him as he jogged by!  Would've definitely liked to (obviously!) but didn't happen this time! I'm just glad I was as close as I was/we were to get such great photos.

This next batch is the 1500m final on Feb. 9th     Apolo starts to make his move...  Apolo is in 3rd position, behind the 2 Koreans...    This is the last lap, at the north end of the track... it looks like Apolo might get past the 2 Koreans... I got so excited that I put the camera down and was cheering for him to pass, but... it didn't happen!   ... and I didn't get a shot of Apolo when he 'stood up'... Drats!  Hope ya'll aren't getting *photo-overload*... well, I'm off to do fun stuff with the Grandkids anyway!

I had a blast taking the pics and it's fun to share them with ya'll!
Hubby and I still marvel at the excitement of being there in person! Hopefully, we'll be able to go again and we hope more fans will join us!

Most definitely Lily!  I'm kinda going through ST withdrawals knowing it won't be until next fall we can go to another competition.  When some of us - (not me!- LOL - but only partially 'cause I knew I couldn't get a passport that fast!) , actually LOOKED into what it would cost to go to Worlds in Korea, ya know we got bit bad! We hope all of you will consider joining us next time. It's an amazing experience. Believe me, you will be hooked too, plus you'll get to meet all your GA sistas, possibly even meet Apolo- and you'll have tons of fun! By the way, thanks for whoever has been karma'ing me big time...I'm almost embarassed.... |
