I agree with what you said in your second paragraph. There just isn't any way, short of a confession, to determine if there was just the usual specualtion and wishful thinking going on and then a wild coincidence or if it was anything more than that - Particularly with an arbitrater who didn't see the race (they didn't have the camera angles then to get all the necessary views to even attempt to verify a charge of team skating), and if he was unfamiliar with ST he would have had a hard time even knowing what to look for anyway. This is still a huge problem for judges who know all about ST even after employing better camera coverage and playbacks. (Which Apolo lobbied for.)
On the "old news" issue. There is nothing but old news right now or non-Apolo news. Can't win for losing on those choices, I guess.

I can't even imagine what it must be like to have to present yourself, day in, day out as the perfect package. (no pun intended ) I have wondered that too. Both the figurative and literal perfect package presentation. Although, as for myself, if I were him, I'd rather present my genitals as they are, patently, the real thing not some pie in the sky dream to live up to. Trying to be a perfect little angel all the time just sets you up to fall and let people down and is an unfair burden to bestow on anyone this side of heaven. (Not that he isn't utterly angelic.)

I blame the media force, who can, at the blink of an eye, immortalize an athlete/performer and in that same blink, completely demoralize THE SAME PERSON!! The tv stations and magazines that were singing AAO's praises were the same ones that were trying to bury him. There are only two that know the truth as to what really happened back in 2001, Apolo and his God and that is who Apolo will have to answer to.

I also just read something about Joey Cheek and (until I hear he's doing the nasty with groupies in parking lots) appears to be God's adorable earth angel. The two ideas are incompatible? LOL Apolo used to trash talk? Really? *snicker* I've been wondering if or what ST'ers do to psych each other out before a race. And if Apolo has any unangelic thoughts running through his mind, then I do wish that he'd give me a call. As for Apolo turtling his SUV -- Colorado driving can be extremely challenging. There have been times there where I have driven blind as a mole, or close to it (during dense fog or a driving snowstorm,) because pulling to the side of the road on a mountain pass was the scarier alternative. Many Colorado drivers carry blankets, water, food, etc. with them because they never know when they will be stranded. *Please* cut him a break on this. As for the Shani/Chad mess -- it's survivable, but not if messages such as that are up on his website. I've attributed the drama to Chad's hunger for gold medals and his inability to keep his mouth closed (combined with USS's inability to manage the situation.) But to me, the bigger issue has never been addressed -- why on earth would you hold a relay before all of the individual events have been completed? Let people complete their individual events and most likely they will be *begging* to be on the relay team.

Yes susie. I refuse to believe God's Earth Angel would take groupies two at a time. Not, Joey! Not sweetboy Joey! He's respectable. I'm with Laura. Apolo makes the biggest dent on the competition scene internationally so it's not like he's holding back or helping someone who's going to hugely effect the competition's outcome. I'd probably help my friend, too.

Let people complete their individual events and most likely they will be *begging* to be on the relay team. We KNOW what Apolo does to psyche out his opponents before a race. He thinks about Bella and then slips into an extremely revealing skin suit and skates around non-chalantly in front of the competition. There is no, um, shortage of evidence to back up this and the withering effectiveness of this strategy. (Check out the pics in the purrrfect thread and Canadian thread just for starters.) As for the team pursuit, the Olympic powers that be figured that out (a little late) and you're s'posed to see it as the last event in LT in Vancouver. I'll cut him a break on the rollover. S**T happens. It was never s'posed to be an indictment of his character (absolutely none of it was). Just evidence of bad press and how it can be overcome (brilliantly) by poise and further demonstrations of incredible grace under pressure and good sportsmanship. Shani can do that but it would be MUCH easier for him if his mother got on board too.

I used to see some really clever ones as a high school athlete, and they were universal, if often very subtle -- I've heard that Apolo is always "in the zone" before a race, but I know that *something* must be going on. I'm glad to hear that the relays for LT will be last in Vancouver -- I didn't know that they did that. In track, we would often patch relays together at the last minute. "Hey Susie, ya done with javelin yet? Great -- you're in the 4X100. Smith's ankle went bad on her. How do you like your pass?" "Under, hard, and with a snap, please." "Well, don't we all, but how do you want the *baton* passed to you, girl?" And as far as I'm concerned, Apolo *is* the perfect package -- in every sense of the word.

How do you like your pass?" "Under, hard, and with a snap, please." LMAO Susie.
That is a line to use with Apolo in the relay and/or more privately! I can only add, "no fumbling and don't drop the baton, please."

I bet the Canadians would answer that relay pass question the exact same way. And the Italians, for that matter.

I can only add, "no fumbling and don't drop the baton, please." No worries -- I've *never* dropped a baton. Once I take hold of it -- it's MINE. LOL! I don't even want to think about how ST'ers discuss this...and god help me, I know that they do...

They're probably very mature and matter-of-fact about the whole "leaning over another grown man and shoving his ass" thing, as all straight men are wont to be.
Although, at what point does a grown man who iceskates in a colorful bodysock say to himself, "Wait, is this homoerotic, or is it me?" I bet their thresh holds are a little deeper.
(Somebody needs to make that into an inappropriate pun. Susie?)
