FROM APOLO'S BOOK, HE MET DAVE AT CS IN 1998. DAVE WAS A STUDENT AT COLORADO COLLEGE AND INTERESTED IN SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY. DAVE WAS INVITED TO BE A RESIDENT ADVISOR FOR THE ST TEAM BY ONE OF THE COACHES WHO BELIEVED IN THE VALUE OF SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY AND ALSO WANTED SOMEONE AROUND TO MAKE SURE HIS TEAM GOT TO BED ON TIME.

So...who is David Creswell? Sara OK, so I answer my own question. He was listed in Apolo's Aknowlegements on his website as one of his supporting crew. And I think this is him. At least the picture looks like him. What I found with that picture follows: "DAVID CRESWELL graduated from Colorado College with a degree in Psychology, and is now a 5th year social and health psychology graduate student (At UCLA). His research focuses broadly on the intersection of self-regulation processes and health. He currently is working on two programs of research looking at the effects of self-affirmation and mindfulness meditation in reducing stress and improving adaptation to chronic disease. In conducting this work, his efforts focus specifically on looking at the underlying psychological, behavioral, neural, and physiological mechanisms guiding these mind-body interactions." Sounds sort of like something Apolo would be into, what with his favorite book being "Peaceful Warrior" and all. I really did find tons of stuff about him and his research.

Sara, that's so cool. I remember in his autobiography Apolo mentioned how helpful Dave had been in getting him into a mindset to win. I know that he's been a longtime friend. Is that info about UCLA current? If so, that puts another friend in the SoCal area for Apolo. I think that Dave may have gone to the Dominican Rebublic with Apolo as well. Oh, all the jokes I could make about tuck-in duty for our national team, lol. Boys, boys, boys...you MUST go to bed NOW. Let me assist you. A little massage for those tired, aching muscles? Someone to listen to your troubles? Hey, whatever it takes. Here's another photo from OZ (ohnozone.net): *melt* Take one gorgeous man, put him in a black silk "aloha" shirt with some beautiful flower leis around his neck. Could he look any more stunning?

Susie, I was just checking to see if anyone had posted that picture over here yet. Isn't it gorgeous?
Peggy and Sara, thanks for the info on Dave Creswell. Interesting guy. He should analyze Apolo for us. Of course, since they're good friends, I'm sure he wouldn't do that.
But he should anyway.

And they thought Hawaii was paradise BEFORE! I'll bet all the palm trees are swaying and swooning now. Dave... ok, perhaps it's just me, but Dave creeped me the heck out in the book. Apolo, I'm sorry. I know he's your friend and I'm glad he taught you meditation techniques but the telling of it creeped me to no end! There, I said it. That aside, I'm glad Apolo had fun in Hawaii. I'm happy for everybody who got a chance to meet him.
