hey guest...i agree with you, there was something off with their interaction...he seemed a bit more nervous in this one. probably because she was pressuring him to perform something that's out of his comfort zone (hip-hop)...jmo

First let me tell you all how much I love this guy, how much I've followed his carreer, followed oz and this site. I'm a major lurker. I was ecstatic when I read about the contract with BOA yesterday because I figured we'd start seeing more of him, and we have. But I have to say that there is was something that bothered me a little about this clip. I didn't feel any chemistry between Apolo and the interviewer. I thought he seemed a bit uneasy as to what to do with the little kid; it seemed as if he felt like he was put on the spot in being asked to do some dancing. He just didn't seem his usual suave self when it camed to the break dancing. He looked fabulous; he easily sold the BOA banking online and why it applied to him; he just didn't seem to be totally at ease. Did anyone else pick up on this? I have always thought that there was a part of Apolo that was a little on the shy side (and No, it doesn't bother me at all, In fact it's rather endearing) He has always shown a real comfort level in front of the camera, and is obviously, very comfortable with his abilities as an athlete. And after a few weeks, he looked very comfortable on DWTS. But remember when he was on the show, it was all choreographed, he had practiced all week and knew every step he would take to exactly what music. He WAS put on the spot with the dancing on the interview, and that is ALWAYS uncomfortable. I taught Jazzercise for many years, I could get up in front of anyone in class and do my little set routine. However, if someone cornered me out of class, cranked up some random music and expected me to "bust a move", I'd be a little un-nerved too. So I understand his discomfort. Remember, he isn't really a dancer, this isn't second nature to him. Now Skating, that's another story.... the problem with being a public figure, with not only a fan base, but a fan base for which most of us have never met him, (I dunno, I'm a little concerned that whole 'OFF' thing will turn this otherwise intelligent woman into a blithering idiot...as it has done to SO many others. ) is that fans often tend to take mere mortals and make them into icons with flawless attributes that no individual could possibly live up to. I've said it before elsewhere on these threads, I'll say it again. I admire Apolo immensely, but I would hope that I never took my admiration to a point that I didn't allow him to be human. And one more note about the 'OFF' - apparently I should expect my camera not to work either. I wonder if he has this effect on household appliances as well....

We're obviously on here too much together. Anyway....I totally agree with everything you just said. Even Apolo has alluded to being shy at times and how DWTS brought another side of him to the forefront. When he's in his comfort zone - either on the ice performing or off the ice talking about his performance - no one can beat him. With regard to this new territory - dancing - he's still a bit overwhelmed and uncomfortable with it all. Have you noticed how many of his statements in several interviews since DWTS (and as recently as yesterday) have been a bit re-hashed? Granted, interviewers are asking the exact same questions and so, in fairness, I suppose I should expect the exact same answers almost verbatum!

Yeah, it reminded me of that scene in the movie "America's Sweethearts' with John Cusack and Catherine Zita Jones. The scene when they are doing an entire day of interviews with an endless parade of interviewers. At first the same thing is said over and over to every single reporter, but by the end of the day, John Cusack is going so absolutely NUTS that he just starts spewing complete and utter nonsense

Yessire! ;D Beautiful locks here we come! It's still not long enough for me...but he's making progress. He sure likes those shoes. Do you mean the black pointy ones? If so, I much prefer them to his Prada shoes that are reminiscent of his skates. I can see why he likes those, but I have to admit they're not a favorite of mine. OK Mtnme! Get outta my head. I'll have to check it out. I wish these interviewers would get a little more creative and change it up a bit.

Here is Apolo when he appeared on RR at the very end of August. His hair seems the same to me. I don't care though...as long as the hair is attached to the rest of his body....it can be any length it wants to be

I don't like it when some show producers try to come up with something "clever" to change it up and I didn't care for the way they just sprung this break dancing kid on Apolo - especially when he was there to talk about the new service BofA is offering. I thought it just came off awkward all the way around. But Apolo handled the unexpected situation well, as he always does.
And I have three words for the little break dancing kid in how to come off as a humble, extremely-talented, inspiring, appealing and charismatic performer:
APOLO ANTON OHNO

Hey everyone! I also have to agree with you all about Apolo seeming uneasy during the interview...I noticed that and felt the lady (is her name Emily?!?) was acting sort of show-off like and starstruck and the interview just didn't "flow" you know?! The breakdancing was a cute idea but definitely would have put me in an uncomfortable situation as it seemed to be for Apolo. JMHO but he probably hasn't danced much since DWTS as he has been focused on skating so to pull that on him on the spot seemed a little unfair...but what the crap he looked so darn handsome that I wasn't really paying much attention to what they were saying anyway, LoL! mtme, I also agree with you about fans making those they admire inhuman..like they are infallable or something. Famous or not, everyone has flaws and no one is perfect. To me personally, I admire the ones who have struggles and have fought to get where they are at with hard work and strong-will and optimism. I hope that makes sense...I am going off little sleep. Have a great day you guys!
