The "kid" in the picture is JR Celski. He is from Apolo's home town of Federal Way and began skating after watching Apolo in the 2002 Olympics. He is one of the best young skaters coming up. I think he's around 16 now.
He has competed against Apolo, unsuccessfully so far. Apolo was a friend of his brother's or something, so they've known each other for awhile.
