LOL i thought it said cheese...until i took a second look at the word chest what's cheese means in US? A dairy product aged to get all moldy and stinky but surprisingly tasty on pizza. (US def) Anything orange, with the consistency of wax that is probably made from a plasitc by product and sold to the igonorant American consumers under the name "c-h-e-e-s-e" or "v-e-l-v-e-e-t-a" (French and Brit def of American cheese) What an amatuer photographer tells his subjects to say wrongly thinking this will stretch their mouths in a rictus somewhat resembling a smile. (MT's def 2) When used as an adjective (cheesy) a forced and overdone attempt at humor or happiness that usually misses the target and comes across plastic and smelly. Somewhat synonymous with "corny" (for completely inexplicable reasons). Hence, the "cheesy" smiley. For examples of cheesy, see the doggerel thread. Plenty there, but I get an "A" for effort, surely.

thanks for the info, MT or "Master of Terminology" Ooh, that is good. I hadn't thought of that one yet. Do they not have middle names in Malaysia? Just an individual name and a family name? Wouldn't you end up with a lot of people with the same name? Like "John Smith?" I do think it is interesting that Apolo's names were chosen from Greek although the Anton sounds Italian/French to me. I wonder if Yuki or the mom chose them and what possessed them to decide on Greek. It ended up a great choice but would have been totally wierd if he'd ended up a computer geek or something. Can you imagine?

I love Apolo's name, and I think it's awesome how he uses his fist, middle, and last name. (Although, sometimes he's just referred to as 'Apolo Ohno'.) And I believe Yuki named Apolo...not his 'mother'. Yuki did a great job is naming him I think! very unique

I love his name! I like the way it flows. Don't get me wrong, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is still the king of perfectly flowing names, but Apolo Anton (I though it sounded french, myself) Ohno is right up there.
Plus, I'm a big fan of alliteration.

In reality most of of are an ethnic mix. Our ancestors came from all over the world and many also mixed with the Native Americans. So, though we are all Americans, we do not all look alike. So actually, Apolo looks very American, he looks like himself.
