That cheerleading movie might be fun. I remember my posse and I went to go see Bring It On a few years back, and that ended up being the best movie we saw for the whole year.

Yeah, I they made a Poseidon Adventure in the 70's and I, personally, am pretty SICK TO DEATH of remakes in Hollywood and YES, there ARE new ideas out there ( I know some people on the "fringes" of the business and a few screenwriters, okay? ) and Hollywood is so afraid of backlash because of the conservative presidency we have to try to "push any buttons" and so some of the movies that there are very good screenplays for. That's why I think it was so cool that "Good Night and Good Luck", "Syriana", "Brokeback Mountain" and "Crash" got made and got so much attention. Movies like that USED to be relegated to the "Indie movie" realm and now, hopefully, if MORE writers, directors, producers, etc. STAND UP and have some BACKBONE, MORE intelligent and thought provoking movies will get made. Yes, I also like comedies, drama's, action/adventure, Sci-Fi as well, but those get made REGARDLESS. I'm speaking of the OTHER kinds of movies here... Let me just say, "Good night and Good luck" = AWESOME. I, too, am sick of the run-of-the-mill movie. Let's tackle the hard topics, people. How many boy meets girl, boy and girl get serious, girl finds out something terrible about boy (i.e., the everpresent line "You lied to me!!") and gets mad at boy, girl ends up with boy anyway stories can we make? Yes, they are entertaining for a hour and a half, and I must admit I watch my fair share for comic relief! . But that's why I'm really getting into Bollywood movies. There's enough romance to make a girl happy (honestly they've created some of the best love stories ever told), and the storylines are complex and hit on hard issues that will literally bring you to tears (even non-cryers like me). There's always a point and although it wouldn't seem so to us, they're issues that are REALLY controversial in the Indian culture... All I can say is wow... And some of the cinematography is even better than Hollywood. It's amazing. Haha... I'm an addict, so shoot me.... ;D

I like the Asian movies for a lot of the reasons you like Bollywood movies, Lindsay. Movies like "Hero", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "House of Flying Daggers". To me, those were MASTERPIECES. The love stories, beautiful, the martial arts, action, AMAZING, as well as the cinematography ( OH MY GOD, too stunning for words ). I can watch those movies over and over again and yeah, they make me cry, as well. I need to go out and rent "Memoirs Of A Geisha". I hear that's a killer movie, too.
I need to watch some of them Bollywood movies. I've not seen any ( yet ) but you are NOT the first one to tell me about them.
And an FYI to those of you thinking that "Stick It" is a "cheerleader" movie. No, it's about gymnastics!

Yes, Amy you HAVE to watch Memoirs of a Geisha... it's absolutely fabulous, and again, the cinematography is breathtaking - one thing I absolutely adored about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (although it's been a while since I saw that). But absolutely - rent that movie!

Not sure if you've seen "Hero" or "House of Flying Daggers" or not, but if you liked "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" go rent those. You'd LOVE them. Some of them, I kid you not, the cinematography and art/set design was so BEAUTIFUL, they brought tears to my eyes...I know, I'm weird, aren't I though?
I'm just a very visual person, since I am an artist, I guess is why!

Warhorse, you are talking to one of the BIGGEST LOTR, Narnia and Harry Potter GEEKS in here! LOL! Hell yeah. Also, Star Wars ( prefer the OLD one's to the new one's, though ), Star Trek and just any good Sci-Fi/Fantasy stuff, as well as the Indiana Jones trilogy ( although I thought the second one sucked just a bit ). Well, the X-men has a new one coming out, not sure about any other Sci-Fi/Fantasy, per se, but as I said, Karl Urban ( Eomer Eadig in LOTR 2 & 3 ) is going to be in Pathfinder, which is about Vikings coming to the New World 600 years before Columbus. They come and fight the Indians and they accidentally leave a child behind. He is raised by the Indians and becomes one of them. Then, many years later, when the boy is a man, the Vikings come back and it's up to the one left behind ( Karl Urban ) to help the Indians defend themselves against the Viking invaders. If you are interested, I have pictures and a SMOKIN' HOT trailer. Karl Urban in a LOINCLOTH, for God's sake, kicking MAJOR Viking tail! It's HOT baby!

Ah, you liked Karl as Russian Assassin, "Kirill", did you? Yeah, he was smokin' HOT speaking Russian and being so incredibly BAD, wasn't he though? Karl is my FIRST passion, honey. Where do you think part of my sceen name comes from? I'm an "old timer" at the Urbanites board. I've been into Karl since the "Xena:Warrior Princess" days....a LONG time. He's the BEST thing to come out of New Zealand, that's for sure!
