IN LOVE WITH: ----- some dude I met at a stoplight 2 kids and more than half my lifetime ago... I HAVE to hear this story! ;D Did you really meet your guy at a stoplight?? Please share! Yes, Lindsey, I did meet my husband at a stop light. When I was in college my friends and I drove 3 hours north to the University of Florida in Gainesville to surprise a homesick friend for her birthday. When we got there we decided to pack 6 girls into a VW beetle and go to the mall, and at a stoplight these 2 cute guys pulled up next to us. My husband was in the passenger seat, and we couldn't see him very well, but the driver, Luke, asked "are y'all girls from Bradenton?" (the county we were from was on our license plate). To make a long story short, we all met up with them later that night for pizza and compared notes about 'home'. We knew a lot of the same people, hung out at a lot of the same places. I lived on a golf course, and as it turns out, my husband had played at our golf course many, many times. He was actually dating someone when we met that night, so in my mind he was off-limits, and I promptly forgot him. That was the end of it for about a year, then I ran into him in our hometown when he was home for Christmas break. We remembered each other - he was 'flying solo' by then - and we started dating long-distance. We were married 6 months later. (I wouldn't recommend that route, but it worked for us) Our trip to San Diego next week is part of a celebration of our 30-year anniversary...yeah, okay, do the math - y'all already know I'm OLD. AN INTERESTING SIDE NOTE: During the last Summer Olympics, they did a profile on one of the female track-and-field athletes. I was FLOORED when they said she met her husband at a stoplight in Gainesville, FL! ('Wonder if it was the same one???)

What an AMAZING story, Lori! I love it! Sounds like something from a movie. That's even more surprising about the Olympian!! What is it with stoplights in Gainesville?

I've finally gotten through all of this thread and I'm impressed by every darn one of ya! What a great and diverse group of fans Apolo has.
Lindsey, to answer your question, Laura Secord is "Canada's largest and best-known chocolatier". Here is a description of Laura Secord's French Crisp ice cream. It's so popular, they can't keep it in stock! YUMMY!!
Rich butter toffee ice cream with roasted almonds and crunchy chocolate chips.
Number1Fan, let me join the others who have said they had you pegged much younger. I thought only late 20s/early 30s! Now that's not a reflection of your maturity level here, it's just that you're so incredibly full of mischief life.
Lori, I loved your story. Talk about destiny! I congratulate you as well on your upcoming 30th anniversary. It’s so nice to hear stories about people actually staying together these days! Good on ya!

Mmm, that ice cream sounds delicious, Lexi. Too bad I wouldn't be able to eat it even if they had it in the U.S. -- at least, not for another 2 years till the braces come off. :-)

Lexi: Wanna visit: Australia.........and Utah Hey Lexi: I lived in Brisbane, Australia when I was small. How spooky is that. I've been back as an adult - in fact - remember the "sometimes the right people meet at the wrong time" quote - well " he's" still in Australia. It is an amazing place and if it was not so far away, I would live there in a heartbeat! Amazing people, climate, pretty much everything. Go for it!!!

My family and friends say I was born in the wrong era. A few of my favorite singers/songwriters/groups....check them out! Some I'm sure you've all heard of...some others...probaby not. Alison Krauss, Andrea Bocelli, Dolores Keane, Bobby McFerrin, Chenille Sisters, Cherish the Ladies, Eva Cassidy, Harry Connick Jr, Kate Rusby, Keb Mo', Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Loudon Wainwright III, and Rufus Wainwright, Mary Black, Cheryl Wheeler, The Chieftans, Connie Dover, Diana Krall, Ellis Island (pub band from Omaha), Iris Dement, Loreena McKennit, Maura O'Connell, Michael Buble, The Rankin Family (sniff), Suicra, Tim and Mollie O'Brien, Toni Childs, The Wailin' Jennys, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, etc., etc., etc. As for barbershop groups...check out Vocal Spectrum on the net. Ice Cream Flavor: Black Walnut and Peppermint (REAL peppermint...not that green colored peppermint flavored crap they have these days...but the kind I had as a kid....vanilla ice cream with crushed up peppermint candies mixed up in it). But mostly I have on the Food network, PBS, GSN, etc. Or a baseball game....like now. Things I don't have to commit to. LOL!

Thank you number1fan for your warm welcome. I thought everybody's place to wanna visit would be Apolo's House ... my first thought. I love to play slots. I'm going to play this weekend in Atlantic City. If I hit big I'm buying the house nextdoor to Apolo's.
