Hi, number1fan-san, I think your're 8 hours behind . Here is 8o'clock in the evening. (anatano tokoro wa 8 jikan okureteiruto omoimasu.) Hiragana de( in Hiragana) (あなたのところは８じかんおくれているとおもいます。） Hiragana to kanji wo mazete(mixed with hiragana and kanji which is perfect Japanese writing) (あなたの所は８時間遅れていると思います。） Here is 8 o'clock in the evening. (kochira wa yoru no 8/hachi-ji desu.) in hiragana (こちらは、よるの８じです。） in hiragana and kanji (こちらは、夜の８時です。） By the way,number1fan-san, I used to teach Japanese to English people at a local adult education centre. I am very happy to help you and lily-san, of course, anyone intereted in learning Japanese as "fun" let me know. I do enjoy learning other foreign languages. I studied Mandarine Chinese and French in the past. I am getting very very rusty! not lusty!  "R" and"L", we Japanese find it very difficult to pronounce. Please ignore 1 23:, Instead right hiragana is ょう desu. とうきょう（Tokyo)

My Japanese name is Yuri... of course non-Japanese cannot pronounce that correctly... the same problem with the letters L and R! So my maternal grandma gave me the name of Lily (more L's!). Yuri is the name of the flower Lily. |

My mother took me Japan when I was in grade school, but we didn't travel north of Tokyo, although she has spoken of Sendai... it must be beautiful in northern Japan. Did you go to the Winter Olympics in Japan? #1fan... you must speak a lot of japanese, more regularly than I do... you do it quite well here. I speak to my mother in Japanese about once a month... I have gotten slack in my command of the language. |

How great though that you still have some command of the Japanese Language. My Grandparents, on the other hand, gave new meaning to the word "assimilate". My Grandmother even changed her name from Josephina to Josephine because she thought it sounded too ethnic. We just knew her as Grandma Jo. They didn't teach their kids Italian, in fact, my Grandparents used it as their "secret language", so they could talk in front of the kids! My dad regrets that to this day. My brother has taken a few semesters of Italian and has been pestering his siblings to do the same- which I would love. Italian 101 is always taught in the fall, which is my busiest time- so it's hard to fit in. Maybe next year.... |

Unfortunately, my daughter didn't show any interests learning Japanese at all. But she understands several phrases and has got a sense to guess what I am talking about in Japanese. Yes, They speak British, or rather London South-East accent , slightly similar to Australian accent. You know, Len, from DWST judge, he exactly speaks English with London accent. My son's case, he might have picked up Yorkshire accent by now. >I would love to hear Apolo speak Japanese. SO WOULD I!! autumn/winter/spring are on the mild side...low 40's to high 70's. the leaves on many of the trees we have here mainly just fall, especially after a bout of our santa ana winds in the fall. so we do not see the beautiful fall color foliage like on the northeastern u.s. 
we still have our 'little tokyo' (my parents use to call it nihonjinmachi) in downtown los angeles...as a sansei we call it j-town. since the japanese communities are all over the so cal area, there are many satellite type j-towns around...so bay area (gardena/torrance), san gabriel valley, orange county all have their own smaller j-town version.
please do not apologize for anything...i said that because i do not want you to feel obligated to...thank you so much!  |

Do you get to watch *SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE* in England? It fascinated me to listen to HOK (Japanese) speak English with his British accent. Thanks so much for telling me about Kyusaku Ogino! No, I did not know of him. I knew of the natural birth control method but didn't know it was also called the OGINO METHOD! Too bad my father is no longer with us... I'm curious if he knew of the Professor. So, "OGI" means reed... that, I didn't know... although I knew that "NO" means field. So Apolo's surname and my *maiden* surname are similar, in as much as it contains "field"! Interesting! So then, do you speak with a British accent or a Japanese accent or a little of both??? |

I am not sure. I will check tomorrow. We can watch lots of American TV programs, including *Dancing with the Stars* When I was learning English at Junior and Senior High School in Japan, We were mainly taught American English. So I am quite used to the American accent, but British people find it hard to listen and understand American program. Jokes , sometimes doesn't get it.
I speak English with a llttle bit both, as you guessd. But not with London accent , with standard one, I wouldn't say Queen's English, haha
