They are discussing "ice racing" but I'm not sure in what capacity. Starangel says below it is an "ice racing investment conception." I've read here and there that Apolo is a proponent of legalized gambling on ST as a way to generate interest in the sport - I wonder if this has anything to do with that? Korea might be a perfect place to test it. hmm that would be cool, betting on Apolo in Vegas lol for Vancouver Olympics. I can see how it would help ST too, bring some attention. Hell, they have Nascar betting at Vegas.

Hmmm...and all those men in the room seemed really interested in whatever they were talking about. I wish I knew someone who can read and understand Korean that could translate everything for us. Hey - what about starangel???

I'm having trouble viewing Apolo's meeting with the governor of Jeju Island. Is anyone else having problems? I was trying to watch it the other night while I was on vacation but the internet went down and now, it looks like it is going to bring up the video but when I press play it either goes to another screen that has 3 video choices or doesn't load at all. If course, as soon as I post this then I get the video to play!!!

There are already concerns about team skating. I don't think we need to add the fear that someone is throwing a race or being bought off, etc. I really hope this idea never comes to fruition. I am really curious, however, about Apolo's meeting in Korea. He's always up to something interesting!

The first I ever heard of it was on Apolo's official website - they used to have some of his personal responses to selected e-mails, and a question about betting on ST was one of the ones he answered. Never seemed like a real good idea to me, but when you consider other things people bet on that could be just as suspect (i.e., boxing), I guess it's no more ludicrous than those. I read somewhere about some of the crazy things that people bet on through the Vegas oddsmakers - I wish I could remember some of them. Crazy stuff, like the weather, the stock market, elections, whether Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes will stay married for 5 years...you name it, people will bet on it.

I am not sure how I feel about gambling but it has more to do with my faith than anything else.I am even a little weird about how I feel about the lottery.I don't know if I could ever feel right about it.My hubby plays it sometimes but it just doesn't feel right to me.So I don't know how to feel about Apolo's idea but we really don't know anything about it so I guess we will have to wait and see what conspires. Christy thank you for uploading that for those of us that can't use mega.

Here's another Jeju Island pic. ETA: I've looked at the automated translations of four related Korean news articles, and I still can't make heads or tails of what's going on over there -- the translations are coming through very garbled. The best I can do is that local officials are thinking of building an ice rink [this is translating as "ice ley" or "ice field".] The officials see this as an investment, and are hoping to drive more tourism to this part of Korea. But they are also considering another particular use for this land [which has been translating as, "elementary sleeping field", so I've been scratching my head over that one.] There's probably a lot more to the story, but that's the best that I can do with it. If MT wants to take a whack at it, I'll provide the links.

Sexy as ever!Elementary sleeping field hmm interesting.I wonder if they invited several other well known skaters or just Apolo but that says alot about Korea asking him to come.I hope that with time the hard feelings have mellowed.

Apolostarr, thank you for the karma! Daisymomma, I do think the hard feelings have mellowed to some degree. But unfortunately, one phrase that came through the translator crystal-clear (from one of the associated articles) was "Hollywood action", referring to Apolo's gesture to call attention to the foul against him at the '02 Olympics. Geesh -- give it a rest already, people!
