While a documentary sounds enticing, I can't think of a worse thing for the athletes themselves. Great for the fans, sure, but there is enough pressure on these talented young people as it is. To put them in the spotlight while they are training and trying to find their way is a pressure that I think is just unfair.
While the exposure might attract needed sponsors, it would also surely be a distraction at a time when the athletes need their focus and energy the most. Let reality TV capture the struggles of professional athletes who are in it partly for the prestige and notoriety to begin with and let the Olympic hopefuls concentrate on the herculean task of achieving their dreams without having to be subjected to public scrutiny.

Hi gang! I haven't posted in while. There was a syndicated weekly documentary program after the 2002 Olympics which aired on NBC, usually on the weekends. It showcased the lives and training activities of Olympic athletes, plus weekly news about how various athletes were doing in their World Cups, etc. The series was called U. S. Olympic Gold. Summer Sanders was the host. The original ad for aao.com ran during some of these programs. So......why not take the concept and expand on it?
Speaking of Summer Sanders (the former NCAA swimming champ from Standord and much-decorated former Olympic athlete), she is doing quite well for herself. She started out with NBC’s Today Show as a Special Correspondent for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, served as an on-site reporter for NBC at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, was the host of U.S. Olympic Gold, hosted Nickelodeon's Figure it Out game show for kids, and co-hosted NBA Inside Stuff. She gets to travel the country to give viewers a behind the scenes look at the players and personalities of the NBA and WNBA. If Summer can do it, then why can't Apolo give it a go? Also..CSTV has an agreement with USOC to run a minimum of 40 hours a year in Olympic programming. Why not work on an agreement to expand those hours? I caught Jonny Moseley on CSTV bigger 'n Dallas...lol....doing his "guest Olympic commentator" host bit about a month ago. There are opportunities out there and I think Apolo sees this. I really don't think anyone will have to worry about his leaving sports to become a movie actor. ( Now watch him announce this tomorrow.....lol!)
btw.....How 'bout that "b" person? He/she is really eaten up with anti-Ohnoitis! Sounds like a miserable old fart to me!

Hon, you're gonna have to ignore 'b'. But yes, I agree with you there. And it's good to have you back! ;D

Just referencing the hair comments in the interview:
Call me weird, but I like Apolo's hair a little flatter. I always thought it looked poofy and sort of girly before. Not that I like it stick-straight either, just somewhere in between. There is such a think as TOO much volume.

It's bowie! @ pink-I like a little curl, but not too fluffy. Sorta in the middle like you.

I like it sort of flat if it's pretty long. It's looked great lately like in the Hawaiian pictures.
And in Tabbi's signature pic.
Flatter, but wild. Yeah, that's it.

Summer's career sounds like something Apolo would probably enjoy and be great at. b is alright... she's just a little ornery, that's all. Ohnoitis - hahhahaha, that's funny!

Hi Tigerlilly, nice to see you. I agree with Bella that the sort of broadcast career that Summer has had might be very appealing to Apolo (down the road I hope.)
I have liked the flat look and long hair on Apolo looks incredibly sexy. But I'm willing to be surprised.

Hi back, everyone! I was wondering why Apolo's hair seemed to go straighter & straighter a while back. At last...the truth is revealed...lol. I think he is scrumptious-looking with most every imaginable 'do, but I think I like him most at last year's competition weight and with the long straight hair. The Cosmo-pic length is also quite gaw-geous. So b = BBP? Oops! I guess she enjoys the sport of yanking chains @ OZ.
