Apolo and Howard Bach are friends?? Yes, they are! I hadn't heard of Bach until a couple of months ago when a picture of him and Apolo was posted (Apolo was attending Bach's badminton match a couple of months ago). It seems like you are more familiar with him, though.  I can't remember if the pic was posted here or at the OhnoZone. I'm searching for it to post for you, but so far have not found it online. Maybe someone else will find it before I can. But for now, here's a blurb I found about them from 2004 at OZ. ... July 22, 2004 Apolo Ohno's Badminton Buddy [Vietnamese-American Howard] Bach will pair with fellow Asian immigrant Kevin Han to comprise America's only badminton entry in Athens, in men's doubles. Bach is a friend of short track speed skating Olympic champion Apolo Anton Ohno, and the two sometimes play badminton when Ohno is in the Los Angeles area. I posted some pics from that day a LONG time ago... can't remember when.
That picture does not do Howard justice, though. He is pretty hot.

Yeah, I know that these pics had been posted before, but I just wanted to put up a reminder of what Howard looks like...you're right, Bella...it's not a great pic of Howard. Apolo was looking quite fine that day though. I wonder if Apolo will go see his friend play in Beijing?
This photo is from Joits's set at flickr.com -- it's how I got introduced to that photo-sharing site. I see that my Apolo in D.C. photos are finally up for public viewing -- it took awhile to work out the kinks, and I'm still learning about it.

Since I think Howard looks cute in that photo, I had to do a search to see just how much better he looked in others, all because of you ladies. haha I have never seen a 'real' badminton game before, so I had no idea they were this exciting and energetic! You can bet I'll be paying attention to this sport from now on. I hope it's okay to post these pics in this thread. The first two are from '05. I would love to see him playing a match against Apolo.  Howard Bach of the USA hits a return shot as team-mate Tony Gunawan looks on...  Howard Bach, front, takes a dive in front of teammate Tony Gunawan.   |

Epiphaniii, those are great pics of Howard! I love the top one in particular. I was the same, until I really started combing through badminton photos (anything for Apolo, lol,) I didn't realize the high energy level involved in elite level badminton -- it makes me want to watch the players *for real*. Jay, by "Beijing" I meant the next Olympcs there -- I assume that Howard will be one of the athletes representing the U.S. again.
Chika, Apolo hasn't made a decision about Vancouver yet -- believe me, if he announced something, it would be all over the fandom. He really doesn't have to decide for another year or so.
