Skaterswaltc, thanks for providing a pointer to that. What a sight for sore eyes. the last few days i've been thinking "ok, it's time for him to surface in SoMETHING'. , and Apolo has always had interesting ways to come into our lives when off season. I keep waiting, but .... nothing. Certainly doesn't seem like his PR firm is working to keep him in the spotlight. If you weren't a short track follower you would think that he dropped off the face of the earth.
I seldom remember my dreams. But I woke up yesterday morning and had dreamed that he was suffering from a nagging hamstring muscle problem that just wouldn't heal, and that after this past season he was down in the dumps. Now remember, this was my DREAM not a rumor! But it just stayed with me all day.
Wonder where he is, HOW he is....

The message at the dinners (with, from left, Ebersol, Ohno and Bob Costas) is the same: Times are tough right now, but ad buyers should trust NBC. EXCERPT (complete link below): NBC predicts Vancouver will warm upAdvertisers cautious about committing to Games this early By JOHN OURAND Staff Writer Published May 04, 2009 The advertising market for next year’s Vancouver Olympic Games has not started to move yet, with ad buyers saying that tight budgets, combined with the economic recession, are keeping them from committing to packages until the Games get closer. NBC is saying that it has “a number of people” already on board, with more ready to sign deals. NBC’s Seth Winter, senior vice president for ad sales, would not disclose the companies and acknowledged that advertisers aren’t committing to ad schedules as early as they had in the past. “The economy has had an impact on advertisers’ willingness or ability to make long-term commitments,” Winter said. “We have a number of people who have told us that we need to wait a little bit until we get closer to the Games. Some of them we expect right in the first quarter or during the Games.” In an effort to convince advertisers to commit to packages earlier, NBC’s top executives have hosted small, exclusive dinners for some of the country’s top ad buyers in several markets. These dinners have a similar formula. Typically, an Olympic athlete is there. Speedskater Apolo Ohno, for example, attended one of these dinners in New York. And the message at the dinners is the same: Times are tough right now. But ad buyers should trust NBC. thingy Ebersol knows how to present the Olympics. And NBC, with its bevy of cable channels, broadband sites and mobile applications, knows how to help advertisers roll out multiplatform campaigns. www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/article/62418

There are tons of photos here on getty images of the future hopefuls for the Olympic team. the good news...there are a lot of photos of JR, Allison, Kimberly and Katherine. The bad news, the large photos have watermarks and the photos without them are postage stamp size. Anyone out there know how to get around that? Here's the link: www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=2&language=en-US&family=editorial&assetType=image&ep=2&ebd=2009-05-10&p=USOC&src=standard#14 pages of great photos. I was going to make a game out of it over at BB. Olympic athletes in this list from your home town. (and post the pictures) For me, just for starters, Julia Mancuso and Daron Rahlves. How many are from your area? (and sadly, there is no really cool pic of Shawn White to represent the LA area....) Also, going by the photos, it looks like figure skater Sasha Cohen is going to make another run at it. (needed too, without her, this may be the first time that the US womens figure skating team isn't a major contender for a medal of some sort) and someone let me know if you know your way around the watermark issue. These were taken for the USOC and yet, they aren't on their website.
