I wonder if it'll turn out to look like that race from last season with Apolo? ;] - It started out like that B Final - those splits were slow until the last 3/4 laps. Crazy.

Congratulations to Anthony and Jeff! Almost, J.R., your day will come for that individual medal! I hate it when Apolo DQ's. Good luck to the relay teams. ETA: Thanks for the updates, 3B.

China's Zhou Yang wins gold at short-track World Cup eventOctober 25, 2008 07:55 VANCOUVER, B.C. - Chinese short-track speed skater Zhou Yang took gold in the women's 1,500 metre at a World Cup event Saturday. Zhou skated to the victory after a crash-filled final lap in a time of two minutes 21.58 seconds. Eun-Ju Jung and Sae-Bom Shin - both of South Korea - claimed silver and bronze, respectively. Valerie Maltais of La Baie, Que., finished 10th overall after coming fourth in the B final. Jung-Su Lee and Si-Bak Sung finished one-two for South Korea in a photo finish in the men's 1,500. Bronze medallist Jeff Simon from the United States led for most of the race but was passed by the two Koreans in the final laps. Competing in only his second World Cup event, Remy Beaulieu-Tinker of Montreal won the B final to claim ninth overall. Picture:

The men's relay is happening NOW, we're apparently in second, and the ISU server can't deal. Gaaaaa! Okay, our men qualified. I'm in that happy place. ;D

NO WAY!? Apolo DQ?that cant b!!! I feel your pain, Aofreak. I hate it when Apolo DQ's. I haaaaaaaate it. But I probably don't hate it even half as badly as he hates it. Waaaaa! But to quote Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day." Actually, I want that engraved on my gravestone. I'm nothing but an optimist. Tomorrow: Apolo skates the 1000m #2. And our men skate the relay final. I'm seeing gold.

Ok everyone, don't panic...apolo skated amazingly today, and as we were in the front row watching ...we also doubted the DQ...Charles Hamelin definitely just outpaced him for first, but he was clearly second and seemed to think so by his fist pump. He had actually ,to my eye, been bumped twice during the race by Tremblay or Charles I think, and his skate blade was knicked by the Korean. Many of us thought that Tremblay would be Dairy Queened so were shocked when it was Apolo. In a newspaper interview he mentioned that to his mind he had been bumped and was waiting to see if Charles or Francois Hamelin would be dq'd. But he then said, that the decision was out of his control. The relay was crazy close wih the Canadians and Americans changing place from 1st to 2nd throughout. My heavens was Apolo flying!!I've never seen such gravity defying balance!! They both made it into the finals which will likely be more than my nerves can stand. I tried my first attempt at taking a video with my new little digital camera but gave up after 4 minutes because I was getting dizzy trying to track round and round with my little lens. Haven't checked yet to se what I got. All in all we had a marvelous day. Loved our seats in the front row at the rail by the starting line...several of us used our zoom lenses to get pictures of Apolo in the hot box...very interesting...after the last relay was finished , Apolo and the U.S. team stayed on the ice skating around and practicing "pushes"...we think they were either waiting to see if the results would change or were giving us fans a little show while they had the ice to themselves...we had our us. flags hanging over the covers on the seats in front of us and were making so much noise, they couldn't have helped from knowing where we were. It was awesome! Afterwards, we all went out to dinner again...by now we were 11 as AJBeliever joined us. We've been leaving our mark on various restaurants in East Vancouver and Burnby...Hi, can we have a table for 10,,or 11? and could we have it quickly please as we are too noisy to leave in the waiting area for long!!That's ok, people kept smiling at our exhuberance ...and to think we were only drinking sugarless ice tea!!! I'm out of steam...will get back to you when I can. Oh, I got to meet Wags and Skaters Waltz today and got some photography tips from Lilly and Sam...they really made a difference. I hope! More later, Musical Mom
