Thanks Musical Mom! What an amazing experience this must have been. Pictures wise...in your 1st post...2nd photo: Steve Robillard is posing with what I think you said was part of the Jr. Development Team. Oh, fun fact...Amanda Overland is Derrick Campbell's sister-in-law if you didn't know. He married Cindy Overland (Campbell), her sister, who is a former Olympic LTer. Derrick used to be US' ST Director, now he coaches Team Canada. I'm rambling so I'll stop now...back to the pictures. ;D Part III (Post 4)...1st photo (red shirt): Guillaume Bastille (I'm pretty sure...I'm going off his bio picture and they look very similar) Part III (Post 4)...2nd photo: Steve Robillard (again) Part III (Post 4)...3rd photo: guy on right...a coach...guy on left...one of the Monette bros. (I'm probably wrong...just taking a guess off of what I can see). mtnme: two words... PRESS ROOM! LOL. If you click on that link on ssc's website...you get a media guide (st and lt). I checked out the media guide for ST. Pretty nice, but that didn't help me find the red shirt skater...I clicked on SHORT TRACK EVENT TEAMS and just checked them all out. Takes some time, but you match lots of faces with names. Especially the up incoming CA skaters. Way too many newbies for me to remember. ;D Wow, thanks for the ID's and the links for the press sites..You are definitely correct, I also found a note with the name Steve on it, wasn't sure which guy it referred to. Anyway, karma back to you for solving the mystery and putting me on track for info re: Canadian skaters..Went to site, saw the lists, but never twigged to clicking on name to see picture...boy, always something new to learn in the internet world! Gratefully, Musical Mom

Great report, Musicalmom! Thanks so much for sharing it. I especially enjoyed the story about the relay. Getting the push from an elite-level skater must feel like a rocket launch.

Wow, was I surprised to get a google alert to my own thread this morning. The entire commentary and pics posted here were featured on this Canadian speed skating site. I'm hoping it will help to generate some excitement and increased local attendance at the Sept. qualifying and Oct. world cup events. speedskateworld.com/2008/07/28/canadian-st-team-training-camp-pics/musical mom

Peter Doucet's site is quite well known. I think you should also consider posting a link to your report on OZ and the "Patinage" site.

Hi Susie; I had no idea he was such a respected site. When I saw that he had posted my new friends you tube video, I wrote and told him about having this thread but had no idea he'd post the whole thing! wouldn't have known that he had if I didn't have a google short track alert on file. Any suggestions about how I get the link posted at Oz and the Patinage (?) site....do you have an address for the latter? I'm kind of learning as I go. It's amazing how many different things I've learned "because of my admiration of Apolo" ! Thanks for the guidance. I just want to encourage a broader fanship wherever I can. MM

MM MM go to this link for OZ www.ohnozone.net/You probably want to post under the Canadian ST team entry. Look below it, and you will see a line and then 'comments' in blue. If you click on that, it will take you to a page where you can not only post your fun find, but read others finds as well. You won't be able to post pics there, but you can copy the link to GA where you DID post all the pics - and paste it in the comments box. (...and don't feel bad, I can't tell you how many of us were cruising around OZ for ages before we figured out there was a comments section! LOL) and Yup, Peter Doucet's definitely on top of it. When we finally got The Rocker Fund website finished, I went to Peter's site to send him a note about it, only to find he was WAAAAYYYYY ahead of us....by about a month!
