In my original post, it sounded like I don't appreciate Len. That's not quite true. He did give valid criticism from the ballroom dance standpoint. The other judges are perhaps a little too generous. But, two things I disliked about Len: he criticized the music for being too fast, which I understand is NOT chosen by the dancers, without giving credit to the pro for good choreography to the chosen song or to the star for how well they danced what they were given. Second, his comments were far nicer to other couples whose routines were not nearly as difficult as Apolo & Julianne's. Perhaps he did this to give the illusion that the stars were all in the same league, but I struggled to maintain respect for him as the season went on. As Apolo said, "I just want consistency in the judging."

BTW, I am interested to see how Derek, Mark and Julianne do, so I will watch it at first for them. I don't have strong feelings about any of the stars whose names have been mentioned. Also, here's hoping Apolo makes an appearance when short track permits. I do want him to make ST a priority now, though.

Yeah, I know Mark isn't a Hough, but he has a long standing relationship with them that I am sure is going to create lots of rivalry. While I am thrilled that Apolo has found something else that excites him, I am also hoping he spends more time with short track again, IF that's what he wants. |

IMO. The main reason Len was so harsh with Apolo and Julianne, is because of his rivalry, or whatever he has, with the Ballas'..He was really picking on Julianne. Notice how critical he always was of the choreography. It is going to be interesting to see which of the proteges he picks on this year: Mark, Derek, or Julianne. It may be tough especially if they are all good. Looking forward to this.. The mistake he made last season in being critical of Apolo, , I agree, is it only made him work harder, because criticism is a motivater for Apolo, and it appears the same is true of Julianne.
