After listening to Apolo's interview, I want to dedicate this old Cat Steven's song to him and let him know that the sky's the limit.
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out And if you want to be free, be free 'Cause there's a million things to be You know that there are
And if you want to live high, live high And if you want to live low, live low 'Cause there's a million ways to go You know that there are
Chorus: You can do what you want The opportunity's on And if you can find a new way You can do it today You can make it all true And you can make it undo you see ah ah ah its easy ah ah ah You only need to know
Well if you want to say yes, say yes And if you want to say no, say no 'Cause there's a million ways to go You know that there are
And if you want to be me, be me And if you want to be you, be you 'Cause there's a million things to do You know that there are
Chorus
Well, if you want to sing out, sing out And if you want to be free, be free 'Cause there's a million things to be You know that there are You know that there are You know that there are You know that there are You know that there are

Good song, Bella. That is in one of my favorite all-time movies "Harold and Maude" with Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort. That whole movie has most of Cat Steven's album "Mona Bone Jakon" in it and that song is just a highlight. Also, a few songs from "Tea For The Tillerman" is in it, as well. Poor Cat ( now known by his Muslim name, Yussif Islam...got arrested just for being a Muslim at a New York airport last year. They were probably afraid he'd break out singing "Peace Train" in the lobby and cause a ruckus or something... ) A Joe Jackson song...I got to see him Live for only the second time last Tuesday and I still LOVE this man and think he is one of the biggest musicial geniuses from the 80's to the present. This guy can play just about ANY kind of music and Good God, makes me want a baby Grand piano in the middle of my living room so frickin' BADLY, it HURTS I tell ya! Anyhow, from his 1982 masterpiece "Big World" this song is called Soul Kiss:Soul KissEvery time I turn on the TV it's always the same old tease See everything you ever dreamed that you could want But nothing that you need And every gorgeous girl in Hollywood could soon be mine I got the money and from time to time I have the time Get the image right Party through the night But as it's getting light I'm still waiting for a soul kiss Do I have to say please And it's always just a near miss Always just a big tease Is it always gonna be like this When you're lookin' for a soul kiss And all the record stores Are filled with pretty boys and their material girls And even students vote for actors Then they tell you it's a safer world And all the hippies work for IBM or take control Of faster ways to sell you food that isn't really whole I like to wine and dine You sure are lookin' fine And we could kill some time But I'm looking for a soul kiss I've even said please But it's always just a near miss Always just a big tease Is it always gonna be like this When you're lookin' for a soul kiss

Yes he does, Laura. He started out doing THAT kind of music ( which I ALSO love, by the way ) but man...the guy is so versatile it's INSANE. None of his CD's are alike, he has changed styles EVERY SINGLE TIME. He's a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, you know....he wrote a very interesting book about his musical life called "A Cure For Gravity." Look for it in your library. A very good read, if you are into musicians and just a very interesting story, in general.

Nice by Duran Duran off the CD"Astronaut"
Nice
Take the beautiful sting of a Scorpio A careless smile and it begins to snow And it hurts me to think That you might never know That I've got this thing about you
In case you don't understand There's something else I meant to tell you
There is nothing better Than being with you And I'm feeling so nice There is nowhere better Than here with you And it's feeling so nice
Staying up with the moon And walking home in the rain Mixed with your perfume And never twice the same I got a lot to lose But everything to gain When I really think about it
You haven't got a clue It's all that I can do to hide it
There is nothing better Than being with you And I'm feeling so nice There is nowhere better Than here with you And it's feeling so nice
Did I already say 'Cause you make me forget I might as well be brave and tell 'ya
And it hurts me to think that You might never know Will it hurt as much being true? I might as well be brave and tell 'ya
Yeah I'm feeling And it's feeling so nice

On My Own from Les MiserablesAnd now I'm all alone again Nowhere to go no one to turn to, Did not want your money sir I came out here coz i was told to And now the night is near Now I can make believe he's here. Sometimes I walk alone at night When everybody else is sleeping I think of him and then I'm happy With the company I'm keeping The city goes to bed And I can live inside my head. www.afcsat.com/mid/onmyown3.mid
On my own Pretending he's beside me All alone, I walk with him till morning Without him I feel his arms around me And when I lose my way I close my eyes And he has found me In the rain the pavement shines like silver All the lights are misty in the river In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight And all I see is him and me for ever and forever And I know it's only in my mind That I'm talking to myself and not to him And although I know that he is blind Still I say, there's a way for us I love him But when the night is over He is gone, the river's just a river Without him the world around me changes The trees are bare and everywhere The streets are full of strangers I love him But every day I'm learning All my life I've only been pretending Without me his world will go on turning A world that's full of happiness That I have never known! I love him I love him I love him But only on my own.

What a beautiful song, Sara. Or perhaps, I should say, what beautiful lyrics. I haven't heard the song myself - maybe I should watch Les Miserables.

This song is called Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson
He drowns in his dream/an exquisite extreme I know He's as d**ned as he seems/more heaven than a heart could hold/and if I tried to save him/my whole world could cave in just ain't right/just ain't right/oh and don't know I don't know what he's after/but he's so beautiful such a beautiful disaster/if I could hold on through the tears and the laughter/would it be beautiful or just a beautiful disater/he's magic and myth as strong as what I believe/a tradegy with/more damage than a soul should see/and do I try to change him/ so hard not to blame him/hold on tight/hold on tight i'm longing for love and the logical/but he's only happy hysterical i'm waitng for some kind of miracle/waiting so long he's soft to the touch/but frayed at the ends he breaks he's never enough/and still he's more than I can take

What a beautiful song, Sara. Or perhaps, I should say, what beautiful lyrics. I haven't heard the song myself - maybe I should watch Les Miserables. I went back and put a link to a midi. Your post made me realize that quite a few of the members and guests might not be as familiar with musical theatre as some other types of music and therefore, not know what the song even sounds like. Where I put the link to the midi is where the music and the song really begins. The part before the link is like a recitative in an opera; that is, sort of like talking, but to music. It lead up to the song. LOL...Do you feel like you have been sitting through Music Appreciation 101 class at university. I'll also put the link here incase you don't want to go back to the other post. www.afcsat.com/mid/onmyown3.mid

Thanks, Sara! I can't listen to it here at work (blushing) but I will definitely download it and listen at home and I will tell you what I think! I've done a tad of singing in choirs, and my high school choir had a tradition of doing the Messiah for Christmas, which has its fair share of the recitatives. So I should love it! Thanks again.

How Do I Live (Trisha Yearwood)
How do I Get through one night without you If I had to live without you What kind of life would that be? Oh I, I need you in my arms Need you to hold Your my world my heart my soul If you ever leave Baby you would take away everything good in my Life.
Without you There'd be no sun in my sky There would be no love in my life There would be no world left for me And I Baby I don't know what I would do I'd be lost if I lost you If you ever leave Baby you would take away everything real in My life
And tell me now How do I live without you I want to know How do I breathe without you If you ever go How do I ever, ever survive? How do I How do I Oh how do I live?...
If you ever leave Baby you would take away everything Need you with me Baby cuz you know your everything good in My life
And tell me now How do I live without you I want to know How do I breathe without you If you ever go How do I ever, ever survive? How do I How do I Oh how do I live
How do I live without you How do I live without you baby....... How do I live....

"I Want a Lover"-The Pet Shop Boys
At this time of night, when the crowds have passed We're the last to leave, we need some company No need to look so shy, don't even wonder why You know the reason that we need this company I've been sitting here, looking out for you Someone just like me, who's maybe had a drink or two
I don't want another drink or fight I want a lover I don't care whether it's wrong or right I want a lover tonight Tonight
Outside the dawn is breaking, looks like it's started raining We'll catch a cab, and soon be driving home No need to look so shy, don't even wonder why You'll know the reason just as soon as we get home You've been sitting there, wondering what to do I've been standing here, waiting to make the first move Ahaha
I don't want another drink or fight I want a lover I don't care whether it's wrong or right I want a lover tonight (Tonight) I don't want another drink or fight I want a lover I don't care whether it's wrong or right I want a lover tonight Tonight
This anticipation is a stimulation No need for conversation as we're driving home Put your arms around me, it doesn't mean you love me Just that you want me and you need my company Driving through the night, it's so exciting Turning off the light without another thought tonight Ahaha
I don't want another drink or fight I want a lover I don't care whether it's wrong or right I want a lover tonight (I want a lover tonight) I don't want another drink or fight I want a lover I don't care whether it's wrong or right I want a lover tonight Tonight
(I want you, I want your love) - I want a lover (I want you, I want your love) - I want a lover (I want you, I want your love) - I want a lover (I want your love tonight) Oooh
