Gisele Bundchen and LeBron James on the cover of April 08 Vogue
March 14th, 2008 by Helen - Posted in Celebrities, In the media
Men look good on the arm of Gisele Bundchen. How else can you explain the fact that she’s scored 2 out of the 3 Vogue covers which feature men? The Brazilian bombshell is currently featured on the cover of Vogue’s April 2008 issue with NBA star, LeBron James.
Though Bundchen and James aren’t the only two model and sports star pairings in the magazine’s annual Shape issue, with swimmer Michael Phelps photographed with Caroline Trentini, snowboarder Shaun White with Daria Werbowy, speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno with Doutzen Kroes, and discus thrower Jared Rome with Raquel Zimmermann.
In the accompanying editorial photographed by Annie Leibovitz, the models discuss each other’s bodies, which must have been quite an experience, especially for Bundchen and James. Though Bundchen, who stands 5-foot-11, told Vogue she wasn’t intimated by James’ 6-foot-8, 350-pound frame.
“He doesn’t really make you feel small, even though he is big,” Bundchen said of James’ 6-foot-8, 350-pound frame next to her 5”11 frame. “I think my leg is like the size of his shoe.”
Bunchen previously appeared on the cover of Vogue with George Clooney in 2000, while Richard Gere appeared on the cover in 1992 with his then girlfriend, Cindy Crawford.

Power couples Gisele Bundchen and LeBron James make an odd couple on the April cover of Vogue. The pair were shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in the NBA star's hometown of Akron, Ohio. Why Gi and King James? The influential fashion mag is featuring athletes and models in an issue devoted to size and shape. "He doesn't really make you feel small, even though he is big," Tom Brady's girl- friend says in the magazine. "I think my leg is like the size of his shoe." There are several other athlete-model pairings in the issue, including swimmer Michael Phelps with Caroline Trentini; snowboarder Shaun White with Daria Werbowy; and speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno with Doutzen Kroes.

I am just stunned by these gorgeous pictures. And I would have loved to have been there to see the look on Apolo's face when Annie arrived with her full-on entourage with groomers and stylists and the moment she sprung the skin suit idea on him. ANNIE: So Apolo, I want you to wear this skin suit and you're never seen anything like it before. It looks like it's made from some unearthly silver material that came from another dimension. It'll make you look like you've basically self-combusted and melted down into some form of liquid silver or mercury. And no bandanas because you're going out there like some kind of a Metallica Adonis on Ice. What do you think? APOLO: Are you kidding me? Ummmm....well, it doesn't have any ruffles or sequins, so what the he11... I can't wait to see all the jaw-dropping of unsuspecting people who'll be aimlessly thumbing through Vogue magazines in the check-out lines next week.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll pick that up whenever my issue of ESPN comes out. Wal-Mart takes their sweet time sometimes.
